Remember when we used to always get smashed through the bye periods due to origin. Good times
Oh we will still get smashed.

Overs. If that’s his asking price now, and maybe rightfully so, then I think we’ve already missed the boat.
I think the deal should’ve been done 8 rounds ago, you could’ve got him for 300. Imo I wouldnt go anything over 400 and even then I’d prefer a 2 year deal. 3 years on $350k would be a fair result.
Only watched a bit, recovering from nightshift, get back to you.I’d like to honestly hear what you thought watching Hynes tonight, @Huge ?
I’m not criticising him, he’s had a great season, my concern is he is playing in a very different system to Brisbane. What aren’t you sold on he has performed with some pretty average players in the spine with him it’s not like he’s been carried the whole way through.... He’s been the one carrying! If your not sold now your never going to be
Yeah but it’s cause Croft was no good... They didn’t want Croft they want Hynes he has accomplished 30 x more than Croft ever did with the Storm. No point signing players from other teams due to risk if we are looking at it from your perspective, we have to take a few risks to get back to the top and this is a very good and in my opinion safe riskI’m not criticising him, he’s had a great season, my concern is he is playing in a very different system to Brisbane.
No, it’s because he’s coming from a system in Melbourne where everyone is very well drilled & knows their role, to a shitshow in Brisbane where everyone ostensibly does their own thing.Yeah but it’s cause Croft was no good... And we are he’s playing like a 600-700k player right now and he’s getting 300-400No, it’s because he’s coming from a system in Melbourne where everyone is very well drilled & knows their role, to a shitshow in Brisbane where everyone ostensibly does their own thing.
I have always said we should sign him, particularly for his utility value when Staggs shits the bed at 5/8, but imo he’s not going to be the marquee signing that comes in and repeats what he’s doing in Melbourne. That doesn’t mean he will be shit, I think he will be a solid serviceable playmaker, which we need, but we should pay accordingly.
If the Broncos had put forward an offer of $500,000<, I dare say the Hynes camp would’ve been like..if Fatty was correct (and i doubt he knows anything) and we offered Hynes a 500-600k a year 3 year contract, would you consider that Overs, Unders or just right?
There are as many as 6 clubs after him, he isn’t going to come cheap. And we are he’s playing like a 600-700k player right now and he’s getting 300-400
6 clubs and about 2 of us can offer a spine spot in his positionThere are as many as 6 clubs after him, he isn’t going to come cheap.
I can't see flegler being top tier because he looks lazy on the field. Not hungry enough.Flegler will be a top level player in my view. Problem is he has been promoted too early and is on too much money for where he is at. He will get there. While we cant make the 8 I think we keep picking him for the experience
Yea that very well could have been the case. Like I said in a fairly recent post. The club has apparently tabled a fair offer, regardless of what happens, there’s not much more you could reasonably expect them to do.it's all well and good to say a deal should have been done 8 rounds ago. however, at that stage it sounds like he may not have even made a decision to leave the Storm. Then as soon as Paps got injured and he was guaranteed an extended run in the starting side, even the dumbest player agent on the planet would have advised him to hold of signing any deal as there was only one way his value was going to go.
we likely would have expressed our interest in him much earlier than the last couple of weeks
Time will tell I guessI can't see flegler being top tier because he looks lazy on the field. Not hungry enough.
I hope I'm wrong, but I get the feeling he likes to get the ball when in the attacking 20, but doesn't work hard in D to earn it.
I have a sneaking suspicion (and this will somehow make its way into the media of course) that the Sharks might go hard for Hynes. They are desperate to show that they haven't monumentally screwed up with getting Raw Bones in to coach and murdering Morris. Hynes isn't what they need but he is a big, sought after name.
