Hopefully that is worst case scenario...

Fullback is such a weakness if Niu doesn't suddenly become a top 10 NRL fullback in a short period of time.

Grade B+ halfback
Grade D fullback
Grade C hooker
Unknown quantity 5/8th
A halfback
C Fullback
B- Hooker
Adam Reynolds is the only halfback in the comp that could handle this team
Niu he’s raw good ball runner but just lacks in those areas we need competency
And Turpin he is a menace in defence but his attack has gone a bit wayward, with Reynolds telling him what to do I think we will find his creative self again

Api Koroisau off contract at the Panthers at the end of next year.

They have upped the deals for the likes of Luai, JFH, Chrichton, Yeo and will no doubt have to do similar for Martin, Kikau, To'o etc so he could be a chance to move clubs...
He will move clubs
They have a lot of money tied up right now already. Fisher Harris just got 800k a year from them and Yeo, Cleary and Luai all got big money contracts as well. Its why we are able to grab Capewell off them

I don’t mind the analysis here at all but one point, when has Turpin ever shown himself to be creative? He’s a tackle bot.

I hope you are right about Niu, i would love for him to have a game where he just announces himself to the comp but i wouldn't bet my own money on it from what i have seen.

It is such a talented position in the current NRL. Honestly, out of the 16 fullbacks that would be picked for their side each week, where would you rank Niu? As you gve him a C grade which is average i would assume 7th to 9th on this list?

Paps, Edwards, Gutho, Latrell, Tedesco, Turbo, Dufty, Kennedy, Holmes, CNK, RTS/Walsh, Ponga, AJ, Laurie, Meaney.

Honestly, i would have him maybe 15th on the list above Meaney (and that is debateable) Just cant see how Niu gets a C rating against his competition?

I did yeah, i didn't think B+ was a derogatory score and it is where i rate him.

A standard would be Cleary or Hughes and Keary if he wanted to play 7. I personally rate Reynolds just behind them, hence my mark.

Take Reynolds out of the souths side and they lose by 50. You 7 is the general, Hughes and Keary are neither that.
Take Hughes out of Melbourne's side and they still win most games comfortably. Don't be fooled by Hughes, good player yes, but in an extremely strong system where even Brodie Croft looked a world beater with the talent around him.

If we release all players off contract bar the ones named below. We should try and sign Brandon Smith and Capewell as the priority with a solid rather than star fullback (Probably can't afford a star fullback). Our team options would look a bit like below:
  • Cobbo/Niu/NEW PLAYER
  • Pereira/Mead/ NEW/Oates
  • Staggs/ Niu/Tass/
  • Lee
  • Farnworth
  • Croft/ Staggs/New-Maybe Nikorima
  • Reynolds
  • Haas
  • B Smith
  • Carrigan
  • Riki
  • Piakura/New- Experienced Solid Player
  • Capewell
  • Flegler
  • Kennedy
  • Bullemor
  • Paix/Turpin/NEW- Could be Nikorima and he could also play 6.

We need some experienced squad players at second row, fullback and winger. Obviously we need to move on Lodge and TPJ for any of this to happen.

Off contract players I would consider would be Will and Albert Hopoate (will maybe too expensive), Kurt Mann, Edrick Lee, Curtis Sironen and Conor Watson, Drew Hutchison or the Butcher Brothers at the Roosters if we can get them at the right price.
I’d go after Connor Watson, he’s an effort based player which is what we need and because Ponga is his best mate and it could get us Ponga too.

I think we are arguing minute details here. I rated Reynolds a B+ which to me is an extremely good player, but not best in position. Its not like i am saying he is poor...

I still rate the 3 i mentioned above Reynolds regardless on the role of the no. 7.

Take Munster out of the Storm side and they still win most games comfortably but i would still snap him up as my number 6 given the chance.

I'm not sure Brodie was ever considered a world beater at his time at the Storm, potential yes but never a finished complete player. Even Bellamy had him in and out of the team.

Firstly keary can **** right off he is nowhere near better than Reynolds and secondly Hughes is overrated as ****, he’s got a running game and cause munster does all the halfback work for him e.g. leading the team around, Hughes gets all the credit. No, that’s not the case I still have DCE above Hughes, he is nothing without the players around him and therefore doesn’t deserve that spot. Only position he would play adequately at any club is fullback which based off his running game I reckon would still be his best position but they got papi instead

I think @Wolfie, @Big Pete and @1910 have all mentioned him in dispatches at one time or another. I recall them also mentioning a couple of forwards too who were solid and dependable (Grant perhaps was one?)
Jordan Grant, but I have a feeling Melbourne might snatch him up. Love to see us give Brendan Frei a run as well. I think he would do a better job that Riki right now for example

They already have, he's got a train and trial deal.

SJ has signed with the Warriors.

Kodi surely won’t be there next year now.

I knew Hooper would be wrong again, the guy is clueless.

Yep, Kodi is gone but the question is to who? I sure hope it is us.

He would be good insurance for Staggs at 6, but not sure Kodi would want to come to play off the bench with the hope of maybe playing 6. Depends how desperate he wants to return to Brisbane, sounds like it’s more a family decision than football.

Titans would make more sense, but then I wonder why they would buy Turner.

Seems like players returning to their former clubs or place of residence is a thing right now

According to Dobbo as of this morning:
- Capewell is coming for 2022
- Turpin will be the 9 next year
- Staggs will be the 6 next year
- Still not sure on who will be the 1 moving forward, potentially Niu
- Oates to be back in the side next week along with Staggs
We don't improve any time soon with Turpin at hooker. Unless he somehow improves, but I can't see it happening. Every 2nd pass he throws the receiver has to jump or reach behind.

Gagai now being heavily linked to Newcastle
Newcastle PR train is way out of wack. As soon as they dive into looking at someone - a person or two inside the club have loose lips and next thing everyone knows whats going on.
