I mean we must be watching different games honestly. He's one of the form halves right now.

He might not have the explosive speed, but he's got everything else in a halves toolkit like a kicking and passing game with way more defensive upside.

Anyone saying Gamble isn't a good addition to the halves is clearly not even watching the games

It's interesting how split the forum is on the idea of Herbie at fullback. I've heard alot of points for but very few against other than, "he can't pass".

Does anyone have any reasons other than that? Because even Tedesco was criticised for not passing when he arrived at the Roosters. It was late in the season before he started throwing long balls to the wingers.

He can't pass, he doesn't have elite level speed to get through those half gaps and he hasn't really proven either way how he is under the high ball? a 15min stint in a game where we'd already lost and he supported the halves a couple of times (but didn't have the speed to get through the gaps) is about the only thing people are hanging their hats onto as proof he could be a great fb, when in reality he didn't do much at all.

I agree with you, right now he is in great form. the last 3 weeks or so he has been excellent.

Not passing is a fairly big indicator that he won’t be much of a link-man or ball player.
Yes true, but he can work on that aspect of his game. No one is that straight out perfect, they all have things that they work on or improve.

I agree about the high ball, I haven't seen proof that he can catch the wobbly ones but again it's something you can learn. He has also played alot of wing so surely he'd have some experience in that area.

As for speed I disagree, I think he’s one of the quickest and most agile players in the NRL for his weight range.

He’s always watching…

@Smokin' Joe every time he hears his name mentioned on BroncosHQ:

Yeah, herbie does not lack speed.
