If we're getting Napa we may as well have kept Pangai. He's younger, more skilful etc. I don't think our solution is to bring someone experienced that is Ill disciplined to our young side setting bad example to our up and coming forwards. He's not worth the risk with where we're at, neither is pangai by the way.

If they are signing an experienced prop, odds on it will be either Napa or Lui. Kev wants more Queensland talent back in the side
Yeaaah good. We need some players that understand the true QLD and Broncos culture.

I think the idea is that we save money buying Napa instead of paying Tevita 600k a season.

Also.. QUEENSLANDER!!

I ask myself who would our opposition least like to tackle or be tackled by, I keep coming back to Napa. On minimum wage he's worth a crack. If our coaching staff (Petro especially) were to somehow work out a system that allowed him to control or at least manage his aggression he'd be an asset. If he was offered financial incentives to win games but stay on the field and was able to successfully achieve this he'd be a great foil to Haas.

We already have a better version of Napa in Flegler. Don’t need 2 of them.

If they were all the same price Napa would probably be the last of the 3 I’d take. Massive liability and pretty low footy IQ. I think he’s about to be suspended yet again for another high shot over the weekend. I also don’t see him doing much for team culture.

Woods especially would be able to provide a huge amount of knowledge the young forwards in the team. Napa not so much.
Yeah I'm not keen on Napa.

I don't think the prop that we are looking for is there to be a major contributor on the field... that sounds counterproductive, but we have Haas pumping out meters and Carrigan back next year... along with other middles that the club is bringing through... so the onfield stats of someone that we're bringing in probably arent the be all and end all with a possible signing.... and I don't think Napa brings a whole lot on the field anyway.

I think we are looking for culture and leadership and I dont get that vibe from Napa... so if he's not going to be a contributor on the field and potentially not bringing much in the leadership and culture stakes then it just seems like a desperation signing to fill a hole in the roster, because he had potential 5yr ago.

He's 29 at the end of this year so "potential" cant really be used anymore... he's possibly already peaked and trying to get him back to what was slightly above average at peak seems pointless if he's not bringing much else to the table.

Best bet for Napa is to go to a team like Melbourne, Manly, etc. on the cheap and hope they can do a Campbell Gillard type resurrection of his play style

I think the point here is that Napa will be on minimum wage and worth a punt. Flegs is reportedly on anything but.

It's almost sacrilegious to want to sign Woods over Napa.

Yeah I get that but what I’m saying is if we’re already blowing massive amounts on Napa jr why take the risk and extra money on OG Napa who has a bad track record off the field and who’s been the prop Miflord for 5 years. You’d be better off spending that min wage on a guy like Ryan James who will at least teach the other forwards good habits and how to be a professional prop even if his best days are behind him on the field (though still equal or better than Napa).

The QLD point further up is silly tbh. I think if the decision is between 2 equally valuable players we should lean toward QLD talent but to sign Napa over the smarter James or Woods because of the state they were born in is childish.

But on minimum coin he is of no risk.

If he is unable to produce he stays down in reggies. If however we manage to emulate the Storm and resurrect his career we have another enforcer that we're paying peanuts for.

Waste of a top 30 spot and potentially bad for team culture - offers nothing off the field if it doesn’t work out. I think there are better options than Napa that fill the same gap and would be better signings

Eg: James, Lui, nobody

Fair enough, I get your point.

But I'm still adamant if we want to be as good as the Storm we need to be able to emulate the Storm. Turning cheapies around is part of that process.

Just because Flegler and Napa both look like carrots doesn't mean they add the same thing to the squad.

We aren’t there yet and I don’t think Napa is a storm cheapie. Meaney is the perfect example. Smart reliable hard working Footy player who won’t let you down in a well established system. Looks worse because he’s spent his whole career in bottom dweller teams.

Napa is reckless, low footy IQ, and had off field issues that suggest poor character. Kennedy is a good example of a Storm type forward. Journey man who’s average talents can be squeezed to provide value.

Of course though this is just my opinion and it’s not any more valid than any of you who see it differently. Im wrong frequently so it could be a success - I just don’t see it

We need someone that can take it to the opposition in the heat of battle. Napa knows how to turn the turbo boosters on to inspire a win. We just need to get him back to form. I think it's all a mental welfare thing for him.. Just get him happy and smiling and glad to be playing footy for the Broncos... And he may fire. If not, not the end of the world.. Because he will be one of our cheapest forwards. A 2 year deal would not hurt.

When was the last time Napa showed anything like that? Have you watched him play the last few years? He looks completely past it

He's been at the Bulldogs.. I've seen it.. I've also seen a lot of players careers get revived later on when they have matured more as an individual.

I won't rule out Napa at all. Him and Gamble would give great energy to the team on the field.

Well he played his origin career under Kevin, and though I don’t put much stock in Kev’s ability to select a team he probably is a decent judge of character, so if Kev decides he wants him then he may not be as bad off the field as he has come across at times. Wether he can be a worthwhile contributor is yet to be seen.
