Most likely goes to resigning Niu and getting Napa, but wouldn’t be surprised if the club made enquiries about Taylor.

I think Glenn is a goner but really that leaves us with a Jensen like contract to replace him and well I’m keeping Oates if I’m them and you know I’d love Isaako’s cap but it might be better off losing when we got players to spend it on in a years time with millions to spend on talent

Yeah, I'm thinking Glenn will hang up the boots. Oates has spent half the year in reserve grade and would still be there at any other club. He is clearly way past his best and everyone knows it. They need to relieve themselves of his sizable (or part of it) contract if there are any takers.

Issako (another reserve grader) has way too many clangers in his repertoire. Basic errors which have swung matches against them. Another waste of space.

The Broncos have been mired in a losing culture these past three years and they need to remove the main components of this. They have certainly started the clean out but they need to do it properly. It may mean a couple more losing seasons but it may benefit in the long run.

Ideally any funds gained we should use for a fullback, but it is really slim pickings. Again we may choose to use the funds to pay down the amount owing to players we have released.

If we instead were looking for a hooker, I dont think we will get grant or smith, but you could be approaching/making enquiries with hodgson's manager.

Canberra would probably subsidise a portion of his wage next year (i.e. 200-300k) to enable them to free up some cash get a decent halfback. The sticking point would be that he would probably want another 2 years beyond next year to seal the deal which you could consider at a lower rate (as he would be getting older), particularly the last year. This would provide our young hooker (who shall remain nameless) coming through a good mentor to learn from as he is transitioned into first grade.

DD and ikin seem to have a plan they are working towards though.

You can't pay a player 150k, especially for someone like Napa who has played rep footy, pretty sure it's also below the minimum

There are no rules when it comes to the salary cap under this current regime. If he will accept minimum wage, there is no reason you couldn't get him.

There should be but the Roosters were able to effectively sign SBW for minimum wage last year. The Panthers were able to pick up TPJ for effectively minimum wage this year. Coates, a rep winger, was able to go to Melbourne for a cheaper wage than anything else on offer. Anthony Milford went to souths for 30% of what he was on at Brisbane. Napa hasn't played rep in a couple of years, he can go anywhere for whatever someone will offer. Aaron Woods is basically in the same boat and he is apparently ok to go somewhere for near on minimum wage.

I believe minimum wage is around the 110-115k mark, but could be wrong.

the NRL minimum is about 115k.

if the NRL are prepared to allow the likes of Milford/Taylor to take 600-700k pay cuts, they'd allow us to sign Napa for 200k

Woods reportedly is going to sign somewhere for minimum or near minimum wage. Brenko Lee is a rep player who would likely be close to minimum wage. Dunamis Lui will likely go somewhere or stay at Canberra for near minimum wage.

You are right it won't likely be minimum wage because you would imagine a club would be happy to play any recruit 200k as a nicety to move but yes, you could likely get a Napa, Lui, Woods, these days for 200k or less. Again, remember, Milf is reportedly on 300k at Souths.

150k isn’t minimum.
Taylor is being talked about going to other clubs on minimum wage.
It would be easily argued with Napas rap sheet and lack of form that 150k could be his ‘last chance contract’.
I can’t see the NRL having an issue with it, especially if Napa said that he wanted to head home. There certainly are ways around it.

Gotta remember how inspirational Napa was when in form for the Roosters and Queensland.

He's exactly what we need in our front row.. Our pack is WAY too passive.. Especially with Lodge and Tevita gone.

Obviously, I don't want Napa taking off someone's head every second week... There would be a little bit of coaching involved in getting him back to where we know he could be.

If they were all the same price Napa would probably be the last of the 3 I’d take. Massive liability and pretty low footy IQ. I think he’s about to be suspended yet again for another high shot over the weekend. I also don’t see him doing much for team culture.

Woods especially would be able to provide a huge amount of knowledge the young forwards in the team. Napa not so much.
