Do you think it would be possible to offer 2 players for 1?

Its been done before when Turner backflipped on his Titans deal and Melbourne gave the Titans Samau and Issac? to the GC.

Was at Redcliffe where he stole the ball, turned and ran the length for a try. I was at a game where he did that, and his speed was something else. The only other person I could compare live was Benji Marshall in 2008 for NZ.

I was at Suncorp for that game as well. Great try, but i hated it!

Dont know how to post the video, here is a link.

So, let me know what you think after 37 games of NRL

"Lets see how he goes for Tigers lads."

I successfully predicted on here that he’d go home not long into his Souths deal and he wasn’t worth the risk. He did exactly what I said and is now on his fifth club since 2018.

But I’m sure the two minute YouTube clip you watched told you more than I could.

They're covered for spine players though

I think Hughes will be off. He is typical of what they do at Melbourne. Pick somebody up cheaply, turn them into a good player in their system then they lose them because they get big offers elsewhere.

So apart from his lack of a running, organising and kicking game, where do you see his strengths, lie?
In the most important aspects for a hooker, crisp service(Something Broncos fans should appreciate after years with Macca) and solid defence. In a year where Brisbane had possibly the worst defence of any team I've ever seen, Turpin still tackled at over 90% efficiency when he was able to play. The only time he missed more than 1 tackle this year, was when he made 64 against the Eels when they flogged us(1 of these was Turpin and Lodge close to the line, and it was a really bad miss that let in a soft try). If some of his middles defended like him, we'd have won more games.

And he will flop like majority of them do. Same thing will happen to BSmith. His cult status as the cheese, on top of playing with Melbourne, has people over inflating his ability. He is a decent 9, and a great 14. Nothing more at this stage.

Edit: Flop comment is purely at Hughes. BSmith is a decent 9 and will do well, but not live up to expectations.

I can Agree that Hughes probably will flop if he left Storm as he is a very manufactured player, but Brandon smith is another story, the games he played in the kiwis team he was argubly the best on the field, probably the most aggressive and strongest Hooker I have ever seen with buckets of stamina.

Seen him kick a 40-20, which our current halves have not done for a awhile too. The pin point bombs for Coates against Sharks were pearlers too. He definitely won us a few games to the back end of 2019 to get us into the finals, a few of those partnering Boyd in the halves.
But that don't matter to the usual dismissive lot.

I am happy for Oates to be given a decent shot at second row. He’s finished as a winger and deserves a go.

I agree. I actually think he could become a really good second-rower, I'm happy to give him a season or two to see as that kind of speed, ranginess and power is rare. It is up to him to show he wants it now.

I also agree ... although, i wouldn't be against him spending 6 months in the QLD cup to fine tune his backrow game.

Who do we have? None of our players are good enough other than Haas, Staggs or Carrigan. Do we really want to give up one of those guys? I don't think so.
Milford oates and glenn as a package

I think B Smith is a top 5 hooker and would be great for us. In particular he would be valuable for our attack close to their line.

Turpin has done some good things, but his crisp service isnt as crisp as some of you lot like to make out. His decision making in terms of pass selection isnt that great either.

He has got a bit of leeway from fans for 2 reasons imo. The first is basically his style of play. He is all effort and competes for everything every time he goes out onto the field. Its also a weakness of his imo as he just burns himself out and his form generally drops for a couple of weeks. Its been happening to him ever since i started watching him regularly and taking notice of him in 2018. He needs to adapt his game a little to avoid this happening.

The second reason is because he isnt Andrew McCullough.

Nah they'll keep him especially if Smith retires , need his experience.
