Although i get that it will keep him off the market, a long-term and expensive contract is an extremely high risk.

If we were hoping to sign a long-term contract (which is always a risk to the club) i would have hoped that that would have come at some monetary saving (i.e. paying at the lower end of his value range). A mil a season is on the higher end of his value range and he would most probably sign a shorter term contract (i.e. 4-5 years), which would incur less risk, for that amount.

We have an existing example of this type of contract. Due to JT13's contract they cannot afford other upper tier forwards to support him. As such they are so reliant upon him, and when he is off the field, their pack of mid to lower tier forwards are just monstered by the opposition.

Wow f@#king We!! Such a gullible forum. Hook Line and sinker. Notice the public relations offensive of late?? Know any recent buys of late adept in toying with public opinion?? Made a great living off it?? Broncos are definitely doing something right to land DD and Ikin. Got social media pied pipering. Well done boys. Broncos are in good hands finally.

As for $10 million 10 years. Nice sound bite. Public relations offensive again. What's that saying, start listening to the fans, you will be sitting with them. I wonder who said that...

Schonig is cheap and not much hassle, so why would the Storm release him? They dont let players of that type go unless they dont feel they have much of a future imo. He's 25, starting to approach his best years yet the Storm barely use him, makes no sense to me other than they dont feel he is good enough, which should ring alarm bells really. He just isnt that good imo and would be no improvement on anyone we have here. If we are going to sign just a mediocre forward, he needs to have experience to balance out our fairly young pack.

not sure if i read it here or somewhere else but manly apparently prepared to kick in half to move marty on would be a no brainer if we are chasing a forward, not sure if it is true but if it were it would be the move to make.

I rate Schonig. Hardworking, toiler type in the Carrigan mold.

Could certainly do worse.

Surely we could raid the Cows' stocks as well. They have an excess of middles.
Gilbert, Hola, Jensen, Pere are all good shouts stuck behind McLean, Hess and Lolo.
Random comment here but the name Hola just sparked my brain into think about David Hala. I remember having high hopes for him as a prop. Anyone know if he is still playing anywhere?

Not that I’m aware of. I remember him debuting and looked like a tank, took a really good hit up and that was it, his more important tank was empty, career over as he never had the stamina he needed.

**** off. If the Cowboys made a fucked decision on a player that had already showed his not a halfback and barely a first-grader, that’s there problem not ‘his education’.
After watching the Cowboys' presser, I reckon Todd Payten is a dead man walking. Not a good look to turn on your players. Even Seibold didn't do that. If you were to rank the coaches right now, he's below Kevvie.

He was powerful but didn’t have much of an engine.. probably wished he’d been around during the time of unlimited interchange

What a roller coaster he’s been on in terms of the media & social media narrative re whether or not he can coach.. was a dud then a tough love genius now a dud again apparently

I haven't watched it but if that's the case I reckon you are right. For all Seibold's faults at least he didn't do that.

Payton has been doing that all season.
