That’s not entirely true. He was desperate for a starting spot and would’ve taken the broncos offer. We only missed out because Cronulla joined the race late on and it was then an obvious choice for him.
And this is why the reporting is that, precisely the way that people always react. Even if there is slight interest they will always report ‘it is a done deal’ because it’s a win win. If the player actually does sign they were right, if they don’t it’s ‘another fuckup by the Broncos’ so they can write more articles for people to lap up.

I think Drinkwater would likely take a season at 6 and a season at fullback and reassess his career options from there rather than a season in cup and possibly either career wasted spending to much time establishing yourself at different clubs or your playing super league. He is an established nrl player and has to move and play in a team that represents it.
