Oh than we have misunderstood each other. I don’t think anyone is suggesting otherwise. No that is exactly what I agree with! But 2023 Walsh has to be fullback imo
I think Paul Crawley is the only one that thinks it's hypocrisy. Honestly I would love to know more about the hold Bennett has over him.Who cares about Hypocrisy. Bellamy used mental health excuse for Coates while not allowing JAC an early release to be closer to his kids. They didn't copy any flak for that.
The club should always do what's best for it first. Players second.
Media saying there will be some hypocrisy over this Walsh move after we booed Haas. While i think its a bit overdramatic, if Payne plays the homesick card ( and he hasnt used that one yet ) how do we say no to him when we are signing a player on the same terms?
I was just about to write the same thing. There is a big difference to a contracted player saying 'I want out, I miss my family.' or 'I want out, I can't get in the first grade side and have an opportunity at another club', or 'I want out, I'm not playing in my preferred position', or 'I want out, I have signed with another team for next year and it benefits both of us if you let me go now'
to
'I want out, I'm already the highest pain player in the team, but I want more money or else.'
That is why Haas got booed.
We never booed Turps, Macca, Moose, Isaako, Arthurs et al when they all got releases to go play for another team......even Walsh, we might have whinged about it on the forums, but at some level, I think we understood his reasons even if we disagreed with them.
Haas was just acting like a right knob.
He literally left the first time because the Warriors offered him more, even after we offered him a very high contract for a reserve grader, let's not pretend they're markedly different situations.

Of course they are different, he was offered a spot in first grade......immediately. He was stuck behind Isaako and Niu at the Broncos. We didn't need him and let him go, that was one of the reasons in my post that I feel is understandable....leaving for a better opportunity. I don't care that they paid him more than we offered. He literally left the first time because the Warriors offered him more, even after we offered him a very high contract for a reserve grader, let's not pretend they're markedly different situations.
That being said, just like the Haas situation, I genuinely don't care about contract rubbish. As soon as he's wearing the Broncos jumper I'll be cheering him every single week. I rate the kid as having enormous potential so I'm excited, heck I'd take him this weekend. Can we have him this week? We need a fullback.
as per seinfeldThis is basically how sports fans think:
This player wants to play for my team: YAAAAAAY
This player doesn't want to play for my team: BOOOOOOO
Looking for deeper meaning is futile, or just to get newspaper clicks.

You are just plain right stupid if that is what you have comprehended this as. He has 2 possibly 3 more years at fullback minimum until he starts playing in the halves. He may never move to the halves. This whole signing Walsh to play in the halves better be BS. He's still learning to play fullback, he's not even 20 yet. If he plays well there, there's no reason to move him.
Hopefully its the never then. Replicating the Lockyer move is like trying to manufacture the next Cameron Smith, its extremely unlikely to work out.
