we hold his contract, so we'd legally be able to decide the conditions of his release. e.g:
- we could simply reject the Dolphins transfer fee offer, but accept anyone else's
- we could put in the release that it is on condition that he doesn't play against us for the terms of his contract
No our best option is to sign him if that is possible.I'm not sure you can legally stop anyone from working for a different organisation, that would probably be classed as a restriction of trade i guess if he wanted to fight it. The not playing against us could work, and as you say, we do hold his contract so we dont have to release him.
Probably though, our best option is just fleece whoever wants him for as much money as possible.

Why are the Broncos holding 'super secret' meetings with a player already at the club?

Out of interest the Courier Mail has stated he refuses to train with the Broncos(which goes against his contract obligations) and has been training with Norths Devils. Any truth to that?
And reading it, **** me dead are we being painted as the absolute villians in this.
If he refuses to fulfil his contractual duties, then don't pay him. If you don't turn up for work you don't get paid. If the club is unable to withhold pay for legal reasons, then we should absolutely take legal action. So is Karl in danger of being sued since he is not fulfilling his contractual obligations despite not having a legit reason not to?

Contract value, start of season. Get it done while the other mass media is about Haas, Karl Umpalumpa, Robati, Cobbo etc.
Herbie is on a trajectory that is rising very quick. With the right coaching and team around him - IMO he will stamp his own brand in the game. Not many players can do that. Plenty of talent comes through juniors but runs out of fuel into their 20's. Herbie is a different cut in my limited opinion of watching him during games.
Why is this the exact opposite of what is reported? It would be, but it appears that ship has sailed.
Once someone publicly states "I will never play for X as long as I live", it's a pretty hard ask to then play for X. Furthermore, maturity plays a huge part in a person's ability to admit they were wrong and do so publicly. I doubt Karl will be playing for The Broncos any time soon.

I feel like this should be printed on shirts and handed out to everyone at the first home game.More Herbie’s, less Karl’s.
Put Herbie in the leadership group. He is the definition of a role model rugby league professional.
