Broncos Roster, Signings and Rumours Discussion 2023

Treat ‘em mean, keep ‘em keen. Or something like that.

But seriously, they’ve probably only just finished blowing smoke up his arse and moments later can’t even spell his name right.

It really screams; we value you, Carl.
So Kyle how are you liking the facilities and fellow team mates here at Belmore? You do know my first name is Karl don't you? Yeah yeah mate it's all good.

It does leave a bad taste in the mouth though. Broncs finally look to be identifying the actual gun playmakers coming through so they can then pick and choose, ala the Storm model and they finally have a few and one of them immediately chucks a tanty to get a bigger offer elsewhere.

Moral of the story, the development team / scouts are still doing a really good job but somewhere in there, there is a stage where a lot of this is falling over and we are losing some of the best and brightest still.

I tell you what I would love to see though, the Dogs sign on Moses and then see this little toddler kick up another hissy fit because Burton and Moses are in the way...and then the Dogs want him to turn into a 13.

wouldnt count madden out tbh

This

Madden has the skill set, and the attitude to succeed Reynolds IMO. and unlike a certain individual, who doesn't deserve to be named, he is playing it smart. Madden could have gone to several other clubs and slotted straight in as their first choice 7, but he chose to come to us to learn from one of the best half backs in game and set up his future.

since we've been talking about it, the only other member of the spine that could transition into an organising half is Walsh IMO. although I wouldn't advocate him moving into the halves anytime soon. Mam is too much like Milf IMO, let's not wreck him by attempting to turn him into something he isn't.

I'm not so sure, I see a lot of JT in Mam. I am not saying we should be turning him into a 7 any time either just to be clear, I just see that ability to anticipate and put on play after play there, he just isn't synced with the team yet.

you see something new every day ... the Bulldogs have given us credit for the development work we have put into developing he who shall not be named.

here is their statement:

The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs are pleased to announce the signing of Karl Oloapu for the next four seasons, commencing immediately.

Karl will relocate from Brisbane shortly to join the Bulldogs for pre-season training.

The Bulldogs would like to acknowledge the Brisbane Broncos and the development work that they have already put into Karl's career.

We would like to thank the Broncos for their professionalism in dealing with this process and in providing Karl with the early release to pursue this opportunity.

The Bulldogs will provide a more detailed report for Members once Karl arrives here at Belmore.

There is another player that desperately wants a right hand side crack more than anything!

but seriously enlighten me

It was untenable the relationship with Karl and it was all bullshit how it went down but I rather do business with Gus than award the dolphins.

The Bulldogs announcement was very professional too acknowledging the broncos we wouldn’t have got that courtesy from others.

It’s free money to give right back to our development program to get the next one

Just checked. They both debuted at 19. I don't think even JT looked like JT at 19, though.

He looks alright too, did he cop a bit of dud go at the knights?
Newcastle have Chris Vea'ila and Krystian Mapapalangi coming through and Johnston was clearly behind those players. Whereas at the Broncos he has the opportunity to play consistent QCup and be in the mix with Mariner for that outside back spot.

Confident the 5/8 thing was just an angle to try and get out of his current contract. This was always about his manager getting money. Not sure how it all works but surely we could have re-contracted him for a different amount and his manager would have gotten his cut? Once he stated he would "Never play for the Broncos" though, it was all over. That said, given Gould's connection to Adamson maybe there was only one way it was all going to end.

If you consider it’s a 4 year deal the dogs have paid $125k per year outside the cap to get him.

Pretty fucking annoying but like Wlaker, at the end of the day if the broncos lose the young talent they want to hold on to there is no one to blame but themselves.

Walker was obviously on the club but what about this situation makes you think this is on the club given what we actually know out of this? And one of things I believe we know is that the Broncos showed the NRL chicken sandwich's contract and they were ok with it, unless I'm not remembering that correctly, so Kyle is not the most reliable source here for truth.

I would say if you have the best young half on the books and he goes to this extent to leave - you have failed somewhere.

If Kev really didn’t meet him that’s unforgivable. I’m sure some posters will push back on that comment but I’m sorry, if you have a player of that potential you build a relationship with them as soon as possible. You hear he gets a new manager, you contact the manager with the knowledge that he will want his slice, especially after the Haas situation, and you say “I know youve just come on. Let’s work something out as a sign of goodwill and get you a small commission with the aim of a big deal in a few years”.

Get the kid a fuckin chicken sambo
