you can under the new cap
Whatever the equivalent of a million is under the old cap, we can't pay him that. I have no doubt he will be looking for it.

From what I am hearing, Haas is as good as gone.
Would love to have egg on my face, if wrong.
Where are you hearing it from? From what I am hearing, Haas is as good as gone.

Probably his neighbour, who read it on this forum.
Can we not say the exact same about like a third of the squad? To play devil's advocate, if he did want to stay - why hasn't the deal been done yet? There's been plenty of time. It was 12 months ago his agent asked for a release. Surely if he was staying, he'd have re-signed by now.
The longer it drags out, the more likely he's gone IMO. If he goes to another club I will be downright livid. Totally understand if he chases the money in union though. You can't tell me any other club in the comp can offer a package as good as the Broncos (including intangibles like his mates, etc). Unless perhaps he wants to get away from his family...
Seems strange we've locked away some of the lesser lights already in Arthars, Taupau, Jensen? and Sailor but only Carrigan and Mariner in terms of the priority re-signings.
I'd wager that those lesser lights you mention are far less complex contract to negotiate than the priority signings
No doubt you are right but would be nice to some movement on one or two of the guys Kimlo mentioned.
true.
one of the disadvantages of the leaks being plugged i suppose. we now actually have to wait until things have been completed before we know the progress
It's crazy to think about it but Haas will be in his 8th NRL year in 2025 so is technically eligible for veterans allowance for his next deal.I'd wager that those lesser lights you mention are far less complex contract to negotiate than the priority signings
