not at all ...

throughout 2020 we had a total of 21 players injured at some point (several long term injured players ... including our forward leader Lodge and a key spine member in Bird) ... we also had TPJ suspended for most of the season and Perese gone due to drugs charges.

I don't care whether the team is us, or the Roosters or the Storm ... any team with that amount of injuries would be unlikely to make the 8 (although the coaching of the Roosters or the Storm would keep them from the spoon)

a spine of Turpin, Dearden, Milford and Isaako/Bird is good enough to finish 6-8 especially with Kevvie coaching them
We had the most injured roster of the year, followed very closely by the Raiders, Knights and the Roosters.
Every team had to deal with the mid-season rule changes and Covid.

I cannot cop the injuries as an excuse for the spoon when so many other teams were almost as bad for injuries, some in far more important positions.

I have a terrible feeling we may run back to back spoons, and 2021 will be no better than 2020.
I desperately hope we move on certain players after this year (Milford/Bird etc), otherwise i dont see a lot of change over the next 2 seasons and if we dont get repeat spoons, we wont be far from the bottom.

I don't think it is. None of those guys in the spine are top 8 in their positions, most of them not even close. It is hard to make the top 8 even with a quality spine but add that to a totally rubbish backline that has lost its only weapon and a forward pack that defend as well as a pack of sedated animals but get paid a bucketload to be mediocre, this side is bottom 4 material unless some glue / recruits are bought in. Our spine would be in the argument for worst in the league.

Yeah but you're being naive here. Our injury toll isn't about to go to 0, in fact unless we change the medical staff you could perhaps argue it's likely to still be pretty horrendous next year too. It might improve but it's unlikely to be the difference on it's own. We've already lost one of our best players for most of the year and it's still only 2020. Your point about the Roosters is a frankly terrible one because they had a heap of injuries to key players this year and they were still one of the best sides in the competition.

We also aren't just trying to get out of the bottom 4, we're coming out of DEAD LAST, and while the W/L column was close with the Bulldogs, the F/A picture paints us as one of the worst teams of the modern era in 2020. Injuries alone should not take a potential top 4 side to one of the worst performances in the modern era.

Even if we work on the rule changes, even if we improve our injury toll, unless we urgently plus some of the holes in our roster with even stop gap solutions, we are very likely going to get our asses handed to us plenty of times in 2021 too.

That spine would need to have every single member play far above the level they achieved in 2020 and again, that seems highly unlikely we're going to improve by such a massive margin in such a short space of time. Things also get pretty horrific for us if any of those already slim options break down, because our depth behind them is next to non-existent and that's alarming given Bird, Turpin and Dearden have all suffered long term injuries in the last two seasons.

Hope you're right but that looks like a poor spine to me.

Bird - will never be up to playing fullback again after his injuries
Isaako - bottom four fullback
Dearden - young and promising...that's about it at this stage
Milford - depending on how he turns up anywhere from slightly above average to the most clueless half in the comp
Turpin - slightly above average, but injury prone and will never be an elite 9

Quality Qld spine players running around at other clubs so far in 2021:

C.Smith (Broncos fan growing up)
Grant (Broncos fan growing up)
Mahoney
DCE
Taylor (Former Bronco)
Foegarty
Hunt (Former Bronco)
Holmes
Ponga (Former Bronco Junior - very short time but still)
Munster (Huge Broncos fan growing up)
Allan (Hopefully returning but Former Bronco)
Brimson

How the heck do you miss out on ALL of these guys / lose them so that you end up with a spine like what our side has? Who the heck is responsible for recruitment and retention, they suck!

Your completely correct about the majority but I think everyone is selling Turpin short a little bit... if he can stay fit he has his first real opportunity to prove to us how good he is

You do realise not every player in the nrl plays for the team they go for?

We are the most profitable club in the NRL yet have the wooden spoon.

Fucking ridiculous!

Clearly not enough of those profits have not been channeled back into badly needed resources.

I understand the shareholders need to be appeased but not to the extent of making the club unsuccessful and a fucking shambles. White and company - you should be ashamed of yourselves.

They appear to spend more time being concerned with what's happening in the corporate boxs rather then what’s happening out on the footy field with the spoon being the result.
We badly need that part to change before we have any hope at all of getting a half decent team back on Lang Park.
White has probably gifted the ***** in the boardroom a Cartier watch each

Let's imagine the backroom isn't as much of a basket case as we've all been led to believe, this below would be amazing.

If Kevvie could somehow bring in:

1. Grant
2. Allan
3. Mansour
4. Asiata
5. Su'A/Capewell
6. Lui

This side will become far more competitive.

In fact, I'd argue Mansour might even be one of the most important given we got almost negative metres from our back three this year.
Mansour over oates everyday!!!
I wouldnt put it past these pricks to bring hoffman and norman back🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢

I think we have to be realistic about Mansour here. He's over 30 and he's born and raised in Sydney and has lived there all his life.

I'd presume he has a partner and a young family and not a huge amount of football left in him, so how likely is it that he'd want to pack up at this point in his life and career and relocate to Brisbane? Perhaps if we were the top bidder maybe, but that means he isn't coming cheap, as other Sydney clubs will almost certainly be circling too.

Do we really want to be the top bidder on a 30+ year old Winger who would probably prefer to stay in the city he already lives in?

I rate him as a player and covered that extensively the other day, but I think the idea that he's about to come to Brisbane is bordering on fanciful at best.

We have far more leverage with guys like Allan who actually come from around here and have far more reason to want to come back than money alone.

Mansour will probably end up at the Bulldogs or knowing how the NRL works he'll be allowed to go to the Roosters for $12,000 a year because they 'developed him' or some other bullshit like that and he'll win another two Premierships there.
Very good point but id still prefer him to oates...actually i feel this club is so fucked up it wouldnt matter if we had the best players in their positions here......my head hurts🤕😂

Yeah I'm not sure how much is lockys fault but surely he either needs to grow a set or get on his bike.
Maybe his labour hire company can find him another gig😳 after reading what his responses were in court id say he's fucking clueless....probably just a token board member
