Broncos Vs. Cowboys - Build Up Thread

That was in a sudden death finals match - slightly different to round 1...

How so?? Could Hunt have really done any worse then Alex Glenn?? FFS Henjak has no idea! [icon_thumbs_do

That's your definition of rebuilding. Mine is we have a turnover of players, experienced players, and need to replace them and modify the team structure.

Every year since 1999 we've lost players that fit that criteria.

True, in some years worse than others. I mentioned 07 onwards as we lost a decent chunk of experienced players after our premiership.

Because if we didn't trust how players performed in lower grades we'd never promote anybody.

I have been shot down for suggesting that we give young players a go in the past, where were you then? :P

I love the idea of starting the year with a few big names in the QLD Cups. Keeps every one on notice.

Sims started last year there and it did the backend of his season wonders.

And while it's great to win the first game of the year, it's not do or die and the season doesnt hinge on it. It's a great time to blood the rookies.

Good Work Ivan icon_thumbs_u

A grand final qualifier is a different story.

I'm very happy with the team.

Alex Glenn wasn't being asked to do the things I'm sure you're assuming Ben Hunt wouldn't have been called upon to do as a "traditional" half - fact is he put it on the forwards and Locky's shoulders and they weren't up to it. No way was that a situation for Ben Hunt to be thrown into after 2 games (one of which against the Sharks he was plug ordinary in too BTW)

even if sims and setu were named as 18 and 19 it doesnt mean that they wont play. it does mean however they will be busting their guts at training for the next week to get their names back in the 17. and if they do enough of that before friday their may be a reshuffle. its a good confidence boost for the rookies though

Fixed your typo. The Broncos were diabolical in that game, and for Hunt to be expected to be the on field general of a team which had absolutely no go forward or heart is harsh in the extreme.

I agree that the performance that night across the board was crap to say the least - but to be honest I think Hunt didn't do himself any favours - maybe he was nervous but his kicking game was dreadful

Agreed. Wasn't great individually either...just saying with everyone else playing badly the extra pressure and lack of time compounded his own nerves.

Anyway, NYC Team:
1 Todd Murphy ©
2 Lachlan Maranta
3 Aaron Whitchurch
4 Dale Copley
5 Dane Gaigai
6 Jordan Kahu
7 Louis Frisby
8 Andrew Clayton
9 Kurt Baptiste
10 Tariq Sims
11 Dunamis Lui
12 Kurtis Lingwoodock
13 James Ackerman
Interchange
14 Ben Faulkner
15 Tennyson Elliot
16 Mitchell Frei
17 Ben Malley
18 Ryan Hansen

Its hard to get a good kick in when your forwards dont give you the space you need. He can not be judged on that game.

Nah, must be injured or playing Q Cup....

the last trial he was dropped to Wynnum and will more then likely be playing there round 1.

Who writes your lines? R L Stine? You're a homo [eusa_naugh

I like the look of the team. Looks like Ivan has said they have a big pack so we'll go for a small mobile pack and get em tired. Hope his idea works. But with a small bench it means Thaiday will do alot more prop like work. If thats the case he should have just been chosen as prop and have an experienced guy like Anderson to come in at the 20 min mark.
