Broncos Vs. Cowboys - Build Up Thread

Whats Ashton done to miss out this time? Back end of last season was the best I've ever seen him play.

love the new line up! well done Ivan, Can understand why you guys are saying we have a small bench read the stats there all 95kg + and all over 6ft . ????? small ???? inexperienced maybe I think its great that we have rookies with a bit of talent. as for Sims he stung a few good games together in the back half of the year but did nothing in the front half and wasnt all that impressive in Q Cup either. Setu i think has just been trumped by a more talented player in Gillett how will be a main stay this year i watched him in Q cup last year and was brilliant also seen him as a 19 yr old playIng first Grade on the sunny coast were he made some good Ex NRL players look ordinary took the Sunny coast player of the year out so watch this space he will slowly become a gaint killer as he grows in confidience look out Corey Parker this kids got talent to burn.

i like the starting team, but bench needs less gillet and dodds and more sims and t.smith.

this is prob the only game i've ever been concerned that lockyer or wallace will go down injured.

Ok I have had my whinge, now lets get down to business... I just wanted to say how completely awesome it is than Denan Kemp will run out wearing a Broncos Jersey on Friday night! It is like a dream come true. Also I wish Dodds and Gillet well off the bench I hope they are made of the right stuff!!

DENAN KEMP FTW!!!

[quote="#1 Kemp fan":1p35h6c7]Also both Setu and Sims are our enforcers in defence I fear if the cowboys get on top with there forwards there is no way back with that bench. Our backs are awesome but they need some help.

Get used to it. On paper our forwards are going to look inferior to most opposition this season. That's the challenge for our young pack. They have to try and match it. If they can our backline is pretty much the most exciting in the comp and has heaps of points in them.

Thats all well and good but I don't think the team selected is our best team we can offer. Surely Sims and Setu should be on the bench I think it is an outrage!! [icon_drun[/quote:1p35h6c7]

Outrage hey? No offence meant but are you any relation to the crybaby having a tantrum over on leagueunlimited?

Cheer up Kemp's been named!

According to the paper he just scraped in over Michaels..

I look at it this way. We will need guys like Dodds and Gillett during the rep season and they will find themselves a lot more confident if they aren't thrown in as debutants. I have no doubt Sims and Setu will both be back in the side within 4 or 5 weeks, and later down the track when we need these young guys they won't have the pressure of having key roles on debut.

I think I saw the cowboys had mason, webb and maybe manakafoa coming off their bench... if they hit the field the same time our rookie bench players are manning the pack i have to say we could be in trouble.

Our top 13 looks good but my gut just gets nervous looking at our bench... bar glenn that guys very classy.

Webb was named as 18th man and Rapira is on the bench.

I wouldn't write off our bench. Our bench may be a lot younger and more inexperienced but ours are a lot flashier, faster and fitter, except for Rapira. Glenn will be able to handle it as we all know, McGuire is hard as nails and loves to get into the thick of it and Gillett is very skillful and has great defence. I can't really comment on Dodds though because I have never really payed much attention to him but he seems like a hard worker. When Mason/Manuokafoa come on I think we will just bring Anderson off and push Thaiday up front as Kenny can play big minutes without showing much fatugue so I'm not all that worried about the youngsters.

Agree 1000%.

I really like the side, backline looks exciting and the starting pack looks very solid. Would have liked another bigger body on the bench like Sims but I am willing to see how the kids go.

You know what the best thing is about the Bench? No bastard has any idea what to expect. We all know how these guys can play in Qcup/U20's ect and we all know well enough the potential that bench has in the future. However in first grade with players like Locky/Wallace feeding the ball and guys like Thaiday/Parker/Kenny showing them how to do it!

Come Friday night when those guys are on the field no Cowboys will know if its safe to run at them full pace. In attack do you get 1 guy watching them or 2? Can they offload ect ect.

I can't really explain Sims not being in there, but as someone posted earlier, we don't know what Ivan knows. Maybe Sims and Setu are lacking a little in fitness or carrying niggling injuries. If they are both fit I would have thought they should have been in the side, particularly Sims with his size. But it will be a good test for the young players, and face it, with Souths, Canberra Roosters, they are going to be coming up against big packs this year, so this will be great experience for them.

I really have no complaints about the side and am so excited about kick-off Friday night!

Me too, the off-season just seems to drag doesn't it (not a reference to you dragx :) )
