The Wallace bagging is becoming tedious.
He is a huge asset to our club.

I disagree, SBL.

On his day he is a huge asset, but his day does not come regularly enough. That discussion is for another topic though, this thread is about our next match. icon_thumbs_u

If we could somehow make him a forward or something, he would be awesome. His defense is invaluble. But he keeps killing the attack.

Play him at Hooker. I said it at the start of the year. Have him at Hooker which is where he played for the panthers and let Ben Hunt play 7. Hunt needs to start playing some first grade beside Lockyer before he retires. Maybe its to late to try it this season but i wouldnt mind seeing it next season

Side for the Cowboys game

1. Josh Hoffman
2. Antonio Winterstein
3. Alex Glenn
4. Israel Folau
5. Jharal Yow Yeh
6. Darren Lockyer ©
7. Peter Wallace
8. Shane Tronc
9. Andrew McCullough
10. Nick Kenny
11. Matt Gillett
12. Sam Thaiday
13. Corey Parker
Reserves:
14. Ben Hunt
15. Josh McGuire
16. Mitchell Dodds
17. Scott Anderson

As expected.

I'd like to see our guys ramp up the intensity a bit for the Cowboys game. It'll be a hard fought match, and a perfect trail for the finals intensity wise.

Let's hope our guys can have a good win and get a bit more confidence in the bank.

That's it for Sim and Setu for the rest of the year I'd say. Only if we get injuries would they play. Come on Kenny, break your hip or something.

World class halfback, star backs in Bowen and Tonga, good finishers in Graham, Williams and Tupou, very good hooker, good front row, excellent back row...bench is average (other than Tamou who looks a prospect)...but how on earth is this team so low on the ladder? Seriously. Biggest underachievers of 2010 by FAR.

They'll definitely have a point to prove against one of the biggest overachievers of 2010.

I tipped the cowboys for top of the table at the start of the year, wow how wrong was I...

A game that we can't take lightly, they are always UP playing the Broncos. A MUST win game and should be treated as such.

Yep they usually bring their a-game when we go up to Townsville. Last year was a good example. We got up by 6 but they were much better than the scoreline showed and it was only poor finishing and errors that crueled their chances.

I think this is an ideal game to have heading into the back end of the season. We need to string some tough wins together and Nth Qld away from home is a great test.

From memory the turning point in that game was a mid field cross kick from Thurston that Yow Yeh plucked out of the air and ran 60 metres to score. Had Yow Yeh missed it, Willie Tonga would've grabbed it and scored himself.

Such great memories! I made the trip up for the game and to see You yeh turn Thurston inside and out over and over to score at the southern end - man I lost my shit!

So i take it nothing happened with thurston and his outburst?

I really don't know how much of the Cows you've seen this year Coxy.

Bowen is still rusty after an injury plagued last season.

Graham hasn't been decent since 2007, Ty Williams since 2005 and Tupou is a backrow playing wing. To put it into perspective, Cows fans are jizzing at the thought of landing Winterstein.

Payne has been struggling with an injury and performing worse than Macca.

Everything else I agree with but I don't know about underachievers, sure they should be higher on the ladder but they were never going to be Top 8 hopefuls. Not with the injury to Bowen and the amount of dead wood in their roster.

As for the game itself, we're going to have to limit the impact of their forwards. Cowboys more than anyone rely on the likes of Scott and Mason to bunch the defence so Thurston/Bowen can weave their magic on the edges. If we're patient enough with the football, there is always a large window of opportunity where we can pile on the points and dismantle the Cowboys.

why in gods name are we persisting with kenny? he's had a few weeks now to get "match fit" and personally i don't think he's fit to scratch sims' left testy!! WAKE UP IVAN!

Ashley Graham sucks.
Ty Williams sucks.
Aaron Payne sucks (seriously, he's terrible these days).

Actually, just target Graham and Williams, we'll shit it in.

Te'o in line for Broncos return

Shock recovery ... Ben Te'o

A shoulder hit which buried Brisbane team-mate Lagi Setu into a sandpit at Broncos training may have won Ben Te'o a shock comeback against North Queensland in Townsville on Friday night.

Te'o's thundering shot on the solidly-built Setu at Red Hill on Tuesday, and the look on coach Ivan Henjak's face as a shaken Setu picked himself up from the appropriately named "punishment pit", said it all.

"I think he was trying to give me a message," smiled Henjak, who may have to find a spot for Te'o with the most likely scenario being utility Matt Gillett dropping back to the bench.

If Te'o plays on Friday night it will be a remarkable recovery after he was told twin fractures in his foot suffered during the Broncos' 34-30 loss to Sydney Roosters eight days ago could sideline him for between four to six weeks.

"Ivan told me he was going to give me a go (in the pit) and I just wanted to let him know that I'm ready and that I'm up to it," said Te'o.

Someone should have warned Setu, who copped a full-blooded shoulder before being driven face first into the sand.

"I didn't tell him (Setu)," laughed Te'o.

"He was just trying to decide which shoulder to run at and unfortunately he came at my left."

Te'o is quickly building a reputation at the Broncos for being a big hitter in the Tonie Carroll mould.

"If Ivan wants me to to start or come off the bench for however many minutes, it doesn't really bother me," Te'o said.

"I'm super keen.

"Sitting out one week makes me realise how important it is to be a part of this team.

"I had two fractures in my foot but luckily enough they're not weight-bearing bones."

Te'o says he is not taking any extra risks by playing after running on the foot on Monday and completing Tuesday's training session at full pace.

"My confidence is good and whatever happens, happens but I don't think I'm at risk of doing any more damage," he said.

Meanwhile, young winger Jharal Yow Yeh has fond memories of his last trip to Townsville to play the Cowboys, when in late 2009 he scored a spectacular try after turning half-back Johnathan Thurston inside out on his way to the try line.

"I got a bit lucky, I think," Yow Yeh said of his highlight try.

"I think they (Cowboys) will come out all fired up and try to put us away to give their fans something to enjoy."

Give Te'o another week IMO, playing him this week is not worth the risk.

I love Ben Te'o.

He gets a lot of recognition for his defence, but his attack is just as good. He can spot a gap and actually has some pretty quick feet on him.

He's still relatively young as well. Can't wait to see what he will be like in a few years.

I reckon if he's right bring him back. Every game from here on in is must win, and we need to give ourselves the best chance of doing that. If it was round 5 or 6, yeh rest him but we need to win this thing!!!!!!
