Broncos vs Sea Eagles Post Game Discussion

Sheesh, that winterstein no try didn't look forward to me. Was it?

I hate Manly and I hate their tosser fans. If I ever attend a game at brookie I'm probably going to go Eric Cantona on their ass.

technically, lyons try was fine. you cant knock on with ur torso, but u can ground the ball with it. Its a horrible rule, and needs to be changed so if u can ground the ball with ur torso, u can also knock it on. personally id rather them just say you cant ground the ball with anything but ur arms.

Forget grapples, chicken wings, and obstruction, this is BY FAR the worst rule in the game. It makes no sense whatsoever. The torso means nothing for the whole game, except when you're over the line. And even then it only counts for some things, not others. How did anyone think this rule was a good idea?? [icon_shru

I don't think this performance was necessarily any worse than others this season. Great start then let the opposition back in, the only difference is that this time they had no energy, too many injuries, and no Hunt/Hodges to get back into the game.

While Michaels was pretty bad, it wasn't his fault our forwards got dominated and Lyon had a lot of room to move in. Still, I finally agree on dropping him.

Broncos do this every year, they win games they really shouldn't and lose the one they should never lose. Very frustrating as a Broncos fan.

If Henjak is serious heads must roll after todays display. We have a tough road ahead so now is the time to stand up and deliver.

+1 on flaming Michaels - I've been on his side for long enough, it is definitely time for him to go.

+1

Michaels was playign realyl well before he got injured last year, but he's been terrible this year. Today was no exception. Broncos lost the game because of the defence, or lack of it, down the side that Michaels and Winterstein were playing on. Every tackle Michaels attempted was the worst tackle I've seen since going to see Puppetry of the Penis

As much as i'm pissed off about the loss and the refs, nothing frustrates me more than Micheals, god he makes me want to pull my hair out FFS! He completely halts every attacking oppurtunity, gives away stupid penalties, gives no protection to winger under high ball, has pathetic defense and made jamie lyon look like an in form inglis....... and he's in the QLD 25 man squad... PLZ FFS, sack him he should be no where near the qld team, wtf!

Corey parker was good, <3. Marsh needs to be our fulltime 80 minute hooker, lockyer seemed very dangerous in that last 15 minute period, overall I think the team was simply to buggered in key areas and hunt and hodges missing really made a difference...

Michaels was marking Lyon isn't it his job to stop him from scoring 3 tries??

lol just reading the NRL.COM preview V woManly

Watch out Sea Eagles: Brisbane centre Steve Michaels could be primed for a huge match, aware the Brisbane right-side combo of Israel Folau and Justin Hodges will have already played one match on the weekend.

Michaels will no doubt see more ball in this match and with possible Queensland Origin selection on his mind he’ll want to perform at his peak. So far in 2009 he has averaged 96 metres gained a match and has managed five line breaks, a line-break assist, a try assist and three tries.

This might not sound impressive but remember: the Broncos invariably attack towards the two Test players on the right, not to Michaels on the left. When his chances come, he takes them – and chances are he’ll have more opportunities in this match.

LOL! Micheals is apparently the man to watch for the sea eagles lmao.

And just to quote myself,
NRL.com should of put Watch Out Broncos, not sea eagles, because that's the only person micheals was a threat to, today.

Exactly right schmix. I thought the boys performed better than they had any right to. Obviously there's a few area's we need to address but honestly I'm not panicking. I was delighted what I saw, especially from a few players.

- Hunt was a huge loss but Beale surprised me with his composure. When the game got underway I thought it was going to be a long afternoon for him but I thought he was quite solid under the high ball. Was solid in attack as well.

- Wintersteins work under the high ball was much improved. He can certainly attack it, it's just about defending it.

- Glenn surprised me in the centres. Displayed some good defence and some decent attack.

- Marsh showed some good signs out of dummy half. I thought his defence in particular was impressive and I believe given more game time he could become a valuable asset.

- Te'o showed why he's rated with an impressive defensive display. Still needs to develop his running game some more but otherwise I thought he was a good addition.

Players who let the Broncos down...

Michaels, Kenny, Clinton, Thaiday, Wapau and Gorrell.

Given if Hunt and Hodges return I believe we should line up like this on Friday.

1. Karmichael Hunt
2. Antonio Winterstein
3. Israel Folau
4. Justin Hodges
5. Gerard Beale/Jharal Yow Yeh/Tom Hewitt
6. Darren Lockyer
7. Peter Wallace
8. Nick Kenny
9. PJ Marsh
10. Joel Clinton
11. Sam Thaiday
12. Ben Te'o
13. Corey Parker

14. Alex Glenn
15. Lagi Setu
16. Dave Taylor
17. Ashton Sims

We sucked today! Our forwards tired against a side which had their best forwards backing up which is a pathetic effort. Lockyer and Wallace refused to take any authority in our attack in the second half and we consequently looked like headless chooks. Michaels was crap again but I won't bother repeating myself too much there.

I also thought Gorrell was rubbish again today, our combo should be PJ and McCullough if we are to continue with 2 hookers.

I thought both Lyon's 2nd and 3rd tries were jokes, the 2nd one he knocked the ball forward with his hip and then grounded it with the hip he had no control or any intentional grounding of the football. The 3rd try was worse IMO he put one hand up to contest the football clearly an acknowledgment by Lyon he couldn't take it on the first attempt so he batted it forward for himself. Yes, he juggled it but he did it intentionally as there is no way he was trying to catch it initially and to pop it straight up in front of you is a clear indication your intentionally promoting it forward for yourself.

We probably didn't deserve to win but we got screwed none the less.

Friday night games do not have to feature a QLD team.

Yeah, I couldn't remember if it was an NRL thing or a 9 things, but it wouldn't make sense (at least most weeks) to show a game live in to QLD with a non QLD team in it I suppose

And if the pass to Winterstein late in the first half was forward, so was the ball to Bani for his try.

The touchie that was 1 m away and right in line thought that it was fine, but the ref who was further away and on an angle called it forward.... WTF

I'm pretty sure you can use any part of your body for grounding when it comes to tries so I'm not suprised Lyon's second was awarded.

The third was 50/50 given similar tries have been disallowed previously.

In conclusion...MANLY SUCKS DOG BALLS!

I agree with this team 100%

But he knocked the ball forward with a body part before grounding it, and if we assuming that your whole body is like your hands in the in goal for groundings wouldn't this be illegal?

the broncos draw the biggest ratings for the highest rated footy timeslot of the week. simple as that.
