RORZ...how much "defence" have McGuire, Winterstein and Glenn had to do in NRL? Winterstein has been extremely suspect fielding bombs as it is...but not surprisingly, excellent at finishing off attacking movements.

That's the only thing the U20 competition is good for - practicing attack.

The best defender out of those Under 20's is without a doubt Alex Glenn, and it's no suprise he spent a full year in the QLD Cup prior to his season in the Under 20's

Which is why I have always said, TYC is NOT a benchmark for judging players potential.

On a tangent, I think it was Ari Gold or NNN who mentioned the success of TYC recently. I would still rather the NRL form a second tier comp of relegated QRL/NSWRL teams. Use the TYC cash on that comp (albeit would cripple State League even more) and League could have a decent second tiered bredding ground, similar to Coca Cola Cup, etc in Euro Soccer.

Eh? Wasn't me. [icon_confu

LOLZ @ Hammoz talking about Euro Soccer, especially in a positive sense :P

On Winterstein - is he ever going to diffuse a bomb? hahaha. jokes.
Seriously though, you'd think Henjak would be sending a few high balls his way, he's been dusty in that department that is for sure.

Rest Locky but not Wallace - Wallace is young and ready to go. Surely Locky has to rest after rep games this season? (I know this talk has been around for years, but they seriously need to reschedule the rep season - sit down and work something out with the TV deals!!!)

I honestly don't know why Coxy and Hammo are going off about the Toyota Cup so much.

99% of people, on this forum at least, see it for what it is - a comp featuring the cream of the crop of Aussie high school students and those in their first two years of work or tertiary study. Barely anyone talks up people straight from the under 20's, our club's plan is to send the vast majority on to the Qld Cup before they even think about first grade, and I haven't heard many whispers to the contrary.

Preaching to the converted or making noise for the sake of enjoying your own sound?

Because people on this very forum have used performances in the under 20s to suggest a player should be rushed into first grade.

Does anyone know what Setu's form's been like in the Queensland Cup. I hope he can find some good form because he was dynamite for the dragons last year.

When do we have a bye rd?
also i read or watched cant remember....there going to give the team 2 separate weeks rest like they did in '06 from training, apparently benton's idea and it worked well then. I cant remember tho...

I fail to see why Dave Taylor is being continually left out of the team.

Well he's played two games in Qld Cup, and by all reports his first was average. Not sure how his second went (anyone?) but if he wants a regular spot in the top 17 he should be tearing it up in the lower grades.

I would love Taylor to play the way we all know he can, but it's two different coaches now that have dropped him. Unless he has signed with someone else or has an injury, I think it's pretty obvious there's an attitude problem [icon_shru

Giant young prop Dave Taylor could not even make the 20-Man sqaud, despite having a blinder for the Comets against mackay on Saturday and it is understood he still has to achieve training targets set for him by Henjak

What a load of cobblers.

I could think of a number of other players in the top grade who might benefit from achieving someâ€Âtraining targets“.

The game against the Dragons exposed most of our team as unable to cop a full-on defensive onslaught. We looked like an exhausted rabble shortly into the 2nd half.

Manly have the same in-your-face, defence. It'll be interesting to see how we shape up.

Apart from which, the games I've seen Taylor play this year IMO, warrant him in the team.

Yes, I agree rna, I think there is something more going on behind the scenes there to what they are saying in public.

Without knowing what these "training targets" are, how the hell can you judge whether it's crap or not?

See my comments about the Dragons game, and how Manly will knock the physical crap out of us.

Apart from which, I haven't noticed Taylor struggling fitness-wise for the times he's been on the field.

You're assuming it's fitness training targets, it could be something different, more related to agility or power or something. How do you know?

Obviously, I don't, but all the facts about Taylor don't seem to be known ATM, yet some seem to be quite clear, as I thought, rightly or wrongly, to have pointed out in my above post.

Aside from which, I don't think Taylor has played badly enough to get shafted - unless, of course, there's a hidden agenda, which is what I suspect.

OR an attitude problem (do I sound like a broken record to anyone else?).

If we still had Bennett then maybe an "agenda" would be a legitimate explanation, but when two coaches treat him the same way surely you have to be leaning towards the idea that Taylor is the problem.

about time the best hooker got a go ...thank f--k for that
