Broncos Vs Warriors - Pre & Post Game Discussion

I don't know if anyone has mentioned it, but in the 67th minute, Tate lats out a massive verbal spray. I'm not an expert lip reader but the words; "It went back! **** Off" are clearly seen to be said.

Does Tate get cited now?

Incidentally, we were ripped with that first Warriors barge-over try. After the video ref gave it, Fox gave just one view of another shot which showed him dropping the ball before grounding it. Even the box-head commentators admitted the refs stuffed up. They never showed it again or made mention of it again.

They never mentioned in on the Sunday Footy Show.

Sydney media - why would they? If it happened in a Sharks or Manly game you can bet they would have spoken about it. I watched the live broadcast and as the Broncos were kicking off they showed another replay of the grounding and he had dropped it.

The warriors are rubbish, they rely on the dodgy referee calls to win games. When they beat Melbourne there was a string of bad decisions in the last 20mins that went against the storm.

Don't know why some among here are laying into the team. I think we did our best under what were pretty trying circumstances. Have we played a game like that where we've been cramped in our own half for pretty much 70% of the whole game? You won't win many matches like that and last night was no exception. Carrying it back from your own half takes it out of you and really we were gone by the 60th minute.

Honestly those Warriors are monsters and they bulled our boys around the park. Thiaday would have been really useful, ditto Carroll.

My biggest concern is Friday night. We're battered and bruised and have a short turn around. We're pretty vulnerable IMO.

And we haven't beaten St George since 2005.

As I have posted elsewhere, we are not a well drilled side. One week we're up, the other down.

A season based on alarrm clocks and reputations.

We are full of music - not football.

\We have no consistent game plan, no forward motivation, no hunger to win - ZILCH.

PffFt - this is a joke, till Bennett leaves for the Dragoons, and we can base our results on a coach instead of some myth.

I think it has been some long time since we were well drilled. We have rarely won the games we were expected to win and almost always make hard work of games that we should be winning easily. We have ridden on the backs of our heros and laid the praise for thier acheivements at the feet of a coach that may well have stayed on a tad too long at the one club. we miss tackles, we drop the ball, we almost never offload the ball and fail to demonstrate much in the way of a game plan. I feel for the players that break themselves against the wall each week, put in place by a coach that doesn't know why his great club fails to perform.

OK, I'VE HEARD ENOUGH.

Do you guys all really want to know the problem with the Broncos?

The real problem is we have no leadership in the forwards. Forget the Hodges,Moon, Boyd, over rated talk, etc.

That is the crux of our problem, and it has been since 2006. Truth be told, since Tallis' neck injury, we have struggled up front. However, what has really killed us is the departure of Webcke and Civo. We haven't filled the massive gaps and won't anytime soon. Thaiday is great, Ennis is good. Hannant has his good moments. None of those players are leaders. Our pack is lost, therefore our backs don't have room.

Without the forwards, a backline of 3 Lockyer's and 4 Inglis' still aren't going to score points.

Therefore, until we can grow a pack that will dominate (and there haven't been many games where our pack has DOMINATED in recent years) we are always going to struggle. We may pull through, but we won't be a Storm or Manly.

Before you all start the flaming, let me add weight to my claims, with some examples;

Storm pack; Lima, Kaufusi, J. Smith, Crocker, Johnson, led by C. Smith. (ok, even the hacks aren't to be sneezed at; Hoffman, White, Blair) [icon_ee That is amazing.

Manly pack; Kite, Perry, Cuthbertson, Stewart, Watmough.

Broncos pack; Hannant, Clinton, Parker, Thaiday, Eastwood, Carroll, Sims, DT, led by Ennis.

IMO, the ones bolded have been consistent under performers. I'd argue that Carroll has under'ed until just very recently as well. They are a paper team. Look great, but don't deliver. DT, Hannant, Sims, and even Clinton show glimpes of the potential, but haven't delivered it.

The pack is the problem, no doubt. And, the only way to beat Manly & esp. Storm, is to tie their pack down.......and hope Slater or Inglis doesn't freak through the outsides and go 80.

Yes. However, would you ever compare Thaiday to Tallis? Maybe one day, not in 08.

Well i think there is no real concern.
We have been improving each week and the Warriors in NZ are always a tough ask. Even Melbourne lost to them.

I have seen great improvement from our forwards in recent weeks, especially in defence. Eastwood, Clinton and Sims have improved in attack twofold.

I dont see a reason to start playing the blame game just yet.

Agree we don't have a dominate forward like civoncevia, but do the Storm or Manly? Neither of them have a forward in the class of Civo, we're just on more of an even playing field now because we don't have those dominate forwards anymore.

Ummm......take a quick glimpse at the Storm's pack and bench and get back to us! icon_smile

So you're comparing the storms front rowers to Civo?

You take the best front rower in the game out of our side and of course we're not going to look as strong in the forwards. You just expect someone to step up and start playing the role of Civoncevia.. not going to happen in 1 season.

I thought Clinton was our best forward against the Warriors. He's building well I reckon.

Also Peter Wallace continues to be consistently excellent. Hunt looked a little off by his standards.

I don't have foxtel, and apart from the Panthers game round 1 - whenever a Broncos game hasn't been on FTA they've lost. Anyone else noticed this? Weird!!!

I agree Clinton played well and if Hannant can lift his game we will win a lot of games. I can't remember a game where they both played well. It seems to be one or the other. Over the last month Clinton has been very solid.

Honestly I think Taylor's better off in Q-Cup for the rest of the year and coming back next year with less pud around the lummox and getting a fresh start. Parker's on his way to the lower grades as well the way he is going.
