Broncos withdraw their two year offer to Greg Inglis

I'm not too cut up about this. Inglis looks nothing like the lean athlete of 07/08/09 and we have plenty of young talent who've been waiting for a chance in the backs. Plus Hodges coming back. This money can be used to lock up the likes of Hoffman and Gillette forever.

Maybe we can talk to some of the Pommie boys while they're here?

Ben Hannant and James Graham would make a nice front row combo.

This looks like a pretty disappointing outcome but if what Cullen said was true then it's probably best he's not coming to play for us.

Come to think of it Inglis has never really seemed like he was too keen to play for us anyway. A few months back when the deal was revealed he went on and on about returning to Melbourne after the two year deal was up.

We've got an outstanding bunch of players coming through the ranks and if we can get our halves sorted post Lockyer's retirement we should be challenging for a premiership in around 2013-14. Our young crop excites me more than Inglis.

personally, throwing some big bucks at a carney, thurston or a cronk would be a better signing.

Not exactly sure why people are saying the contract was withdrawn by the Broncos like it came out of the blue, GI not commiting to it by the due date says he's not interested - he had prior notice, game over. Bit like that stupid cow on the Labor elections adds complaining about having her hours cut and then sacked, even though she was told that is what would happen - if you truely want to be somewhere you need to compromise in my opinion. Suck it up, you're still a kid Greg.

I honestly think the Broncos are better off without him... Inglis didn't seem all that committed to the Broncos and now we can use the extra cap space to sign up some juniors and reward our loyal players.

Our juniors aren't as talented as Inglis tho.

We lack experience - even if we bring in lots of younger players, there isn't really anyone around to guide them, especially once Locky retires. But then Inglis is still young himself, even though he has done pretty much everything in league...multiple times even.

Even with Inglis around we still have plenty of youngsters. Not sure how anyone could possibly think we are better off without Inglis.

Inglis signing with Souths is a great news story for the game.

It gives the Rabbitohs a genuine chance of winning the premiership next year.

Everyone wants to see them do well - as long as it's all fair and square. It's all right to have Anthony Mundine, a billionaire businessman and Russell Crowe in your corner, but nothing is more important than fair play.

No, not everybody wants to see the Rabbitohs do well, some of us don't give two s**ts about the Bunnies.

Their forced inclusion back into the NRL basically held the game back for a number of seasons. Congrats on getting Inglis, but no, not everybody thinks the Rabbitohs are the good guys of Rugby League.

Well said pete, I'm sick of everyone kissing souths arse.

**** the Bunnies, who fucking cares about those dickholes anyway? Except for their part time support fan base who only remember they exist when they actually win a fucking game or get kicked out of the comp for being so incredibly shit.

I won't lie - I'm really dissapointed he won't be coming to the Broncs. Character aside I think watching him play with Locky week to week would have been a gem as a rugbly league fan. It would have really been something - the way Locky plays now it suits GI perfectly... sigh...
Aside from all that - if it is over its over... we have to move on.

I thought it would be great to see GI in Broncos colours, but I had a nagging concern. Did he really want to be here? if not then I couldnt see him playing to his full potential, and that wouldnt do. Then hes going to sign then not going to sign Then we get the whole drawn out legal bill saga, andf before you know it, hes in bed with the bunnies and Mundine! I can see a whole lot of problems with that. $100,000 a year third party agreement, Mundines just changed tack, hes not going to pay Inglis legal bill now (it goes to the cap) hes going to pay to fight Melbourne Storm in court (hes really thought that one through) If Souths need to rely on the generosity of Mundine and third party then how the hell are they going to fit Inglis under the cap................ Im not upset, just disapointed, I thought GI had character

Curious where you got that impression? I've never seen much from Inglis to make me think he was anything other than a talented footballer with not much else going on. This whole saga just really confirms it for me.

Inglis is a noob... Not a team player which is the type of player a developing team doesn't need. Sure it would have been great to get him but at the end of the day he didn't want to be here so we are better off.

This.

Wonder if we can chat to a few of the Poms before they go home. Couple of their backs look good.

Don't be silly Coxy the Poms backs are rubbish. Put the extra coin on to some loyal players like Thaiday even Lockyer and move on. Faith in the young blokes, hopefully now Glenn can play left centre all year now..

The whole thing is suspicious, Inglis as of Monday was at Red Hill and at some point throughout the week he met with Mundine and co. and back flipped on not only playing for the broncos, but on living in Brisbane, his fiancé working in Brisbane and not wanting to live in Sydney. The Broncos deal was worth 600k a season so he would have only back flipped like that if he was offered a much greater incentive and I'm not sure paying his legal fees would be great enough to entice him to change his mind so dramatically, especially considering he was willing to pay 87k of his fees to start with. The secrecy surrounding his second meeting in Sydney only further adds to the suspicion imo. Nobody changes their mind like that without a very good reason or compensation and if his souths deal is not dramatically better than the Broncos i don't see how Schubert can clear it or even if it was how souths could pay it. There wouldn't be one ceo in the game outside of Richardson who doesn't think the circumstances around his change of heart is suspicious to say the least.

That Leroy bloke looks the goods. He has good pace, and the rest of his game can be worked on. Goal kicker too.
