I'm hoping Joe is right too but talanoa has been right about so much in the past so I'm worried!
It's all in your head mate... true story!
I'm still stuck on the quote from Bennett about no longer losing players we want to keep ... you can't tell me that we didn't want to keep at least one of J Nik, Parcell and Taylor

I have no doubt we wanted to keep all of them, except they all want to play first grade now. Meaning that they would only stay if a spot was vacant, so do you think we should have dumped our in form halves pairing for them?
Or maybe, there's a salary cap and we can't keep every junior. Then maybe Bennett shouldn't have made such a bold statement that he couldn't back up with actions ...
his statement wasn't along the lines of "We will no longer lose players that we want to keep, unless of course, they want to play first grade and their path is blocked by two players that i have already stated will be the long term halves of this club"
his statement was a flat "we will no longer lose players we want to keep" - so one could reasonably assume from that statement that we didn't want either Parcell or Taylor (since they are both gone) and J Nik if he goes .... otherwise his statement was just plain BS.

Also, maybe, he rates Hunt/Milford ahead of those juniors, so he did keep the players he didn't want to lose.
I think it's pretty ridiculous to get caught up on a statement like that in the world of the NRL and salary caps and no salary caps with clubs like the Roosters.

If they want to go, **** them. Ben Hunt just looks more and more the exception in a world of "want it all now". Give him the captaincy and a life contract.
What this says to me is they all think they deserve a first grade spot, but aren't willing to back their ability to ursurp any of the incumbents.
I'm not willing to lose Boyd, Milford or Hunt for any of them, so as disappointing as it will be, and as damaging as it is to our depth, if they're going to act like entitled brats then I don't want them at the Broncos.
Why? I just said why even if we lose them, it doesn't mean it's because we wanted to keep them.I think it is just as ridiculous (if not more so) to make said statement in the first place
This, so much this.
To be honest I think it says a lot about them too and it's not the qualities you want in your team.

Taylor was signed till next year, we could have easily said "tough shit, you're staying it out".
Jnik hasn't left YET. Whether he does or doesn't, it's not exactly fair to start ripping into a one sentence line from the coach on a probability just yet.
Also if we're keeping both the Niko boys, maybe they were happy to let Parcell go, because realistically he's only bench impact with Macca around and either of the Niko boys can play that role. Having 3 players vying for a bench impact spot isn't realistic, you'll just end up with 3 unhappy players. No pointing hoarding juniors with no intention of playing them in the near future.

unfortunately for us, the game has changed a lot in the last 20 years ... players like Hunt are a rarity in today game, they no longer hang around trying to get an opportunity ... they go where one presents itself.
