Broncos youngsters under threat from poachers.

Nah Talanoa for the most part has good information, I'd trust his word over most on here.

I like Talanoa, he provides great intel without the smugness of 1910.

from what im hearing it looks as though jnik is a done deal with the chooks.

and maybe fai will be leaving as well, not sure on his details as yet though.

What's the point of junior development? Why bother

you cant keep them all, and if it means a young guy gets a chance at potential regular first grade then you can hardly be grudge them that opportunity.

"There are a lot of talented (ex-Bronco) players that are playing for other clubs now - we have to make sure that doesn't keep happening,"
Nek minnit

- Parcell... gone (yes, I know we didn't develop him, but he was in our books)
- Taylor... gone
- Jnik... pretty much gone
- Fai... one foot out the door

It only took a few months to go from having great depth, to "we're fucked if we get an injury in the spine". Yeah, no one saw that coming... :noidea:

It's all good though, cos we gotz Boyd...

Mate I am not having a shot at you, but what can you do if they think they are ready for NRL and they have people in front of them here, and other clubs have seemingly limitless salary caps?? I just can't see what we can do to keep them in that scenario. Unfortunately not everyone is like Hunt and prepared to bide his time to get a spot.

There's nothing we can do about the salary cap. Those are the rules and that's all there is to it, but when you see clubs like the Roosters who couldn't develop a junior to save their fucking lives coming knocking on our door looking for youth when WE are the club that has been on the rebuild for the past few seasons while they have been winning premierships is just bullshit.

The NRL seriously has to do something in order to make it easier for clubs to retain their own juniors. I propose a separate salary cap for players with less than 100 first grade games.

I am not blaming the players at all. I would do exactly the same thing if I saw my path blocked to FG.
All Taylor wanted was a shot at playing NRL for the Broncos, and even Wayne says he is ready, but the decisions made this pre-season, effectively closed the door to him and Jayden.
Unfortunately, I saw this coming and sort of predicted it at the start of the season, although I didn't expect to lose that many players, especially both of our young star halves. I'm not patting myself on the back, because I was desperately hoping to be wrong!

We'll find out in the next few seasons how much this has really cost us.

Basically they have a choice, short term money or possibility of getting a crack in a team that is on the up again and will see a few players retiring in the next few years.

What decisions in the off-season? Or are you still claiming that the recruitment of a fullback has cost us two halves and a hooker?

I'll be really surprised of Nikorima doesn't play fullback for the Roosters.

I will be really surprised if he does, as in I literally do not think it will happen.
