Broncos Youth Players and Young Guns coming through.

You know what? Im ok with some of our juniors going elswhere to get a shot. I understand we cant keep them all.

But it drives me wild when it seems to only ever be a handfull of teams picking the cream of the crop. The roosters have raided Suali, walker, these two amongst god knows who else.

When was the last time the tigers or the dogs or even the sharks nabbed one of these hot shot youngsters?its always a top team oozing with tallent already. Everything is just so out of ballance i think om becoming a fan of a draft system!

Do the Tigers and Dogs go to the trouble of going to Woomba to watch and find high school kids?

If clubs go to the effort and clubs don't you can't sit back and say why didn't we find him- what from your office in Sydney?

I suspect it is agents. These other clubs probably do come along but these poaching clubs (I'm looking at you Roosters) probably offer agents higher commission if they direct gun kids their way. In fact, this would be a good way to rort the system and nothing will be done about it.

Let's say club X offers one of your clients $1 million a year and as an agent, you get 10%, so $100k. If I am club Y, I say to you ok look, we will offer your players 600k but will give you a commission on top equal to 10% over what the other offers will net you, so it would be in your best interests to direct them to us. Next minute, a club signs a guy for 650k when he could easily get a million on the open market.

I dont think there are agent fees for signings re-signings... but it's not like it would be hard for Uncle Nick to give Moses a tour of his golf course.

To be honest I wouldnt be surprised if pay offs are occurring at the junior poaching level... it seems far enough away from NSWRL's attention to care about whether a 16yr old chooses rorters over someone else... so wouldnt be hard to give a cash handout to a player agent that directs his young studs to their team.

Kunt pushes the narrative that player manager will offer player x for unders, but you have to take my shit **** other player as well. If you dont I'll take my good player elsewhere.... but that's different to what you're suggesting and more inline with how Moses takes over 80% of a playing roster.

They don't need to travel to Toowoomba (does anyone who has actually been there call it Woomba?) because they find players from their own areas. Let's not act like what the Storm and Roosters do, signing players from other clubs systems when they're old enough to debut is effort compared to having the kids in your areas in your systems for years.

Brisbane areas like Toowoomba?

As long as we are holding the most promising players in the "skilled positions" (I.e. the spine) and those that have footy brains. There will always be other big and athletic kids that come through each and every year.

It's disappointing news and once again highlights the Broncos inability to hold onto quality junior prospects. It's not the end of the world but if the Broncos are going to turn things around it's getting these players to resist those offers from Sydney and to go through their system since it'll make them better footballers. Currently it appears the Broncos are second rate in that department.

With that said, I'm also going to chalk this up as the press chasing after those Broncos clicks. Are we seriously giving national press to a 15 and 17 year old who could never get a sniff of first grade? I like what I saw from Xavier Va'a but he hasn't taken the junior competition by storm and he has a long way to go.

That's one take. Another take is that it highlights once again another issue of poaching from teams that do not do any work developing their own players, they just come in and take the best options other clubs have done the work to find and develop.

Or Melbourne areas like Brisbane and the Sunny Coast?

Exactly! It doesn’t matter.

Broncos have 90% Coast kids! Easts have a 15year old Toowoomba kid that used to be a Broncos kid.

That's just the lay of the land and if the Broncos are hoping it's going to change they're going to fall further behind.

I think the Broncos are to an extent. They've wrapped up all the gun kids and these are just another two on the production line for Brisbane. And it is a small satisfaction but I like that our club tries to develop their own even if it doesn't always work out.

Your defence of the storm is a joke. Why are they in the NRL? Honestly? What is their purpose? We could get more fans of rugby league by taking an origin there every 3 years. They were meant to grow the game IN MELBOURNE FFS. They have developed Jack shit down there. Even their feeder teams play out of bloody QLD. Its honestly disgusting. For all the bagging of Brisbane you do about them not being good for youth in QLD at least they spend the vast majority of their time, effort and money up here. Melbourne do not! In the last 30 years they have made more then 10 bloody gfs and they have developed how many NRL level players from Victoria. It is a joke.

Do you miss the point more than any person ever in history?
