I don't really agree. Burns and Lynn were already on track. It is called natural progression. I am sure Law has some good points to his coaching methods but there are issues from what I have heard.

It's not as simple as saying it's natural progression, not all players "naturally progress". Lynn had some technical flaws which you don't really see now, even in 20/20 his shot making looks more compact and less lose.

Burns had a great first season, but not until the last season has he really put that consistency together.

2010/11- 3 games 281 at 70.25
2011/12- 11 games 781 runs at 41.10
2012/13- 10 games 587 runs at 32.61
2013/14- 8 games 564 runs at 47
2014/15- 6 games 461 runs at 46

He's been pretty consistent, discounting the first year which was only three games.

It's an interesting debate- Sort of reminds me of the end of Maher era when Simpson took over- no one stood out and it ended badly with Simpson's form falling dramatically.

Hartly would be ideal until someone jumps up for the roll in three years, but then you need two captains. I don't like that.

The only option is Hartley IMO. Lynn as VC to see how he goes?? Peter Forrest wouldn't be a bad option though.

We need to separate the Bulls from the Heat imo. If Hopes retires, I still think he has a role for the Heat as a bowler, but reckon he's not up to captaincy of a 20/20 side. I've got no problem with a player being Bulls captain (eg. Hartley) and another being Heat captain (Lynn/Christian/Cutting).

You have to be in the side, that's Forrest's issue.

If you do that you always run the risk of being down to your third or forth choice if Test selection or injury played a part.
