CONFIRMED - Adam Blair to Broncos

*for Huge, it is noted that my post is speculation and based on a series of assumptions and hypothetical scenarios for the purpose of lively discussion and illustrative purposes only.

Wasn't sure where to put this, but would anyone be in favour of getting Mitchell Allgood? Apparently Parra have told him to look for a new club. He's a bit of a hot head and has plenty of aggression. Could come in handy as a depth player during the origin period. Plus he's big aswell and would come pretty cheap I'd imagine. Just a thought...

No thanks on Allgood.

With Blair, Gaveat, and Garbutt i think we already have enough "Hope to improve under Bennett" players. I don't want to add Allgood to that list, from memory he wasnt even cracking the Eels 17 by the end of the season.

he definitely deserves something just for smacking Steve Mattai

Allgood and McGuire together - I'd like to see that first meeting!

No
useless

I'm interested to see how Blair goes - I haven't paid much attention to the NRL other than our games for the last season or two, so I'm blissfully unaware of how shit everyone seems to think he is.

Gets a clean slate from me!

I think he's saying that Bennet never introduced wrestling, rather he used someone who knew wrestling to improve the players in areas that overlap between league and wrestling.

Huh...?

Of course Bennett introduced the wrestle to Brisbane. It my be a different version of it now ....but the idea was/is just the same.

Slow the man down in the play the ball.

That wasn't the intention at all, when Hasman started at the Broncos the play the ball was quicker than it had ever been and the Broncos had won two premierships in a row. Broncos didn't need it slowed down.

It was originally all about contact and where to hit guys and move your body in tackles to maximise contact. Like I said Hasman has said before anything that was slanted towards "wrestling" Bennett stopped.

Not that it has to do with Bennett or Adam Blair, but we looked excellent in the first seven rounds this year, which is also about how long the refs were enforcing fast play the balls.

I really wish they'd seen that one through to the end of the season.

Bennett introduced wrestling, Bellamy learnt it under him and just perfected it.

It's funny you say that. I reckon at the start of the 2013 season Griffin had encouraged a open-flowing style of play for the Broncos. I distinctly remember round 1 and we scored a try from inside our own half for the first time in God knows who can remember. We led comfortably at half time, then got done late by David Williams in the final minutes to lose the game. From then on it was Boring-Ball.

OK peeps, I think a couple of you need to apologise to Blair & Bennett in this thread. To Bennett for doubting his abilities as a coach and to Blair for thinking Hannant & Kennedy were both 10 times better than him.

Was ambivalent when we signed him, boy did he turn out to be a gem once McGuire was ruled out for the season.

Hopefully he can build up a season-long partnership with McG next year.

Wayne obviously sees something in Blair. Who knows, maybe he looks at how Blair has been utilised so far, and what he is capable of and thinks "I know how to use those skills to make him much more useful". Look at what he did with Weyman. A plodder if ever I've seen one, turned in to the backbone of a premiership winning pack. Think of how much more potential there is in Blair.
