CONFIRMED - Adam Blair to Broncos

Re: [RUMOUR] Adam Blair to Broncos

Would be totally against this, Blair has been rubbish since he left Melbourne. Playing marginally better than absolute horseshit is still awful. Waste of money, waste of space. I'd rather give some of the young guys a go that are chomping at the bit to rip in, not a guy who's been living a comfortable existence for the past few years.

Even if he was signing for the "intimidation" factor, he's more of a thug then anything else. Cheap shots galore.

As much as we love Bennett, I don't think he's capable of turning Blair around because imo Blair is happy with what he's achieved in the game and is coasting out the rest of his career. He had the chance to be a real lynchpin, a leader of the tigers pack - he decided he'd sit back and let others do it instead. Not what we're looking for.

Some alarm bells should be ringing around this place. It's getting ridiculous.

Blair and Boyd are both representative quality. You lot would seemingly bet the farm on a bunch of Under 20's or ISC level players at best who have never even played A grade, let alone excelled at it.

That was a wonderful outcome for the 'Norman, Hoffman, McCullough, Glenn, Reed, Gillett and Hunt' crop only one of whom actually turned out to be (and only for one season so far) the dominant player he was expected to become and collectively along with some poor coaching choices, this group has led our club to be the worst (performance-wise) it has ever been.

By all means then, lets just race into a completely untested crop of youngsters and lets forget all these current international reps that apparently WANT to play for us...

Hypocrite much?

Touting Blair as rep quality but rubbishing Gillett, Reed and Hoffman, all internationals.

Re: [RUMOUR] Adam Blair to Broncos

Blair at prop and Parker at lock is far more appealing than Parker at prop and Gillet at lock. I also don't think Bennett would pay over the top money for him, he never has for prop forwards.

agree.

probably against most people here but i'd be open to taking blair at a reasonable price (300k), 350 would be the absolute limit and id still feel weird about paying that much. anything more would be ridiculous (though remembering the average is 262k in 2015 across top 25). he found a bit of form since moving to prop and was good for the kiwis on the weekend.

would be happy with mcguire blair gavet and garbutt in prop rotation.

Wasn't Bennett asked about Blair and his comment was we will look at any available quality players. He did not say we are chasing Blair.
Seems to be a lot of hysteria
Last week we were signing FPN

At the moment we seem to have got some good running props now we need to find one that can stop the other teams coming through our middle.
Kennedy and Hannant couldn't and i would say Gavet, McGuire and possibly Garbutt as i have not seen a lot of him are not top shelf stopem in your tracks props

PS Wouldnt Tigers have to top up Blairs wage for 2015 if WB did sign him to a base contract

Re: [RUMOUR] Adam Blair to Broncos

This forum cracks me up. If Griffin wanted to sign blair this forum would be in meltdown. The servers would be straining under the immense traffic. Blair is a has been. He was made to look better than he is at the storm because it was a brilliant team. His true talent has shown at the tigers. As an avid fantasy league player i watch each player more than most people, trying to find an edge on my opponents by noticing trends in form etc. Blair has, for his entire stay at the tigers, been a lazy, unmotivated waste of a spot. Players like Fulton, B. Thompson, Paterson, Sironen and Halatau have been missing out on valuable game time because blair spends 80 mins on the field to make about 5 hitups and 10 tackles. The guy is one of the laziest players in the NRL.

Yet.... and im not surprised tbh, because there is a chance Messiah Wayne wants him, all of a sudden the Bennett faithful do a 180 and think "hey, yeh, blair is pretty fucking good isnt he!" or the tired old "well if anyone can get something out of it, its bennett".

Its so predictable, sad and pathetic that whatever Messiah does, the sheep follow. I would have the same opinion of blair no matter who wanted to sign him. I am literally surprised there is any club in the NRL that wants him. He would be lucky to be playing super league imo. I dont even rate him at test level. The guy is a myth.

Can anyone that actually thinks this is a good idea quote this post from now on? I would love a few laughs, as there is no way in the world that anyone would be supporting this signing prior to the Messiah coming here.

Have the "Bennett Faithful" even said they definitely want him yet though? One person said they wouldn't mind but were basically indifferent. As one of those who come under the "Bennett Faithful" umbrella, I don't want him here. I don't know how much he is on and how much the Tigers would be paying but I could accept him at around $150,000 on a one year contract, and if he does well he would deserve an upgrade. Maybe if we let him wear his Kiwi jersey under the Broncos jersey he will step up. Same goes for Vidot and his Samoan jersey.

If we sign him and the young fellas play well enough and Blair plays as terrible as he has been, Bennett will drop Blair. I do love how competition for spots is only a good thing when it comes to McCullough. Those young guys have to earn their spots and so far they haven't. I'm sure they will though.

Re: [RUMOUR] Adam Blair to Broncos

It's his opinion and he has every right to express as you do.

That's what message boards are all about.
And your point ? I'm well aware it's a message board. I've asked quite reasonable questions which I assume is okay, otherwise it would just be like Twitter. I only wanted to know how one can make such observations without evidence. I respect the right to an opinion, would even fight to protect such a right. Having an opinion which is not underpinned with logic is for religion and wives.

Re: [RUMOUR] Adam Blair to Broncos

I agree with the Thaiday and Blair comparisons. Both are way too lazy to actually carry both in the side. Even 1 is too many.

thaiday just needs to be used right. and that is on the right edge and for 50 - 55 mins a game. not for 70+ mins a game and/or in the middle like griffin was doing.

Re: [RUMOUR] Adam Blair to Broncos

Blair looked alright in the 4N at prop
Bennett wants and needs another prop. No way he goes into the season without another established prop. He wont have 2-3 props in his side with minimal experience (<25 games).

Re: [RUMOUR] Adam Blair to Broncos

Pretty conflicted, on the one hand, like a lot of ex-Stormers, Blair's been average outside of the Bellamy system.
On the other, we need another prop, and you can't put down TBA on a line-up sheet. Plus it's pretty slim pickings for off-contract forwards for 2015.

I'd be happy if we offered him a lower-end 1 year contract with potential extensions at the club's discretion.

I'd be even happier if one of the young up and comers was ready, but I don't think that's the case. Anyone out there with the info on that?

The evidence is that Blair has been terrible for the past few seasons.

On that basis, Foordy would think any coach would be stupid to sign him.

Pulling people up on it and telling them they'll have to 'wait and see' is the bane of any good discussion. Of course time could prove the coach right, that would make their achievement more incredible but I'd rather hear what these members would have to say than basically everyone saying 'oh, this could or could not be such a great signing, guess we'll better wait and see'.

That just makes for a forum of hindsight heroes.

Bucket and mop to AP's room please.

He had 2 (Hannant and Kennedy) that shit all over Blair.

I'm can forgive the marginal Boyd over Barba call.

This however is downright fucking Ricky Stuart levels of desparation and dumbness if true.

Re: [RUMOUR] Adam Blair to Broncos

Are you fucking serious....Jesus Christ

Re: [RUMOUR] Adam Blair to Broncos

Wow. i didnt think this would actually happen. This is up there with the worst signings in recent memory for any NRL club. Tigers must be laughing that the broncos would take him off their hands. At least when the tigers signed him he was playing well for the storm. Blair's form has been an ongoing joke ever since the tigers cut loose Fifita to sign him. If the tigers signing him was a bad judgment call, then i dont even know what to say about the broncos signing him based on his form the last 3 years.

Bennett lovers...... enjoy this piss weak **** stinking up your team for the next 3 years. You wanted a senile old hack at the club, now deal with the shit

Re: [RUMOUR] Adam Blair to Broncos

"Blair has demonstrated his remarkable durability by playing every single match for the Tigers in the past two seasons."

Doing fucking nothing.
