[Confirmed] Ben Barba signs with Cronulla

Re: [RUMOUR] Ben Barba to Cronulla

I listen to every word my lord says, how dare you suggest otherwise.

So your telling me that within a scenario (seeing these are all the rage right now) where barba is ripping it up and milford is stinking up the joint, he wouldn't get a go in the halves?

Let's back up here... are you agreeing that WB is your god ahead of either Megan or Anna? RIP B4L if true.

On Barba, I don't think it is possible for him to rip it up as a half. Even if Boyd didn't sign with us, I'd be against Barba in the halves.

And the fact is, whether we like it or not Boyd has signed with us. And whether you think it's fact or not, I can't ever see WB playing Barba over Boyd, and I can't see Barba ever being good enough as a half to justify being played over Milford or Hunt. As such, I consider him now to be a player who is getting paid too much to play off the bench and who would potentially stand in the way of Jikorima and am very keen for him to move on, both for his own career and Jikorima's.

Wooooo wooooo, don't put words in my mouth... I have several gods and those 2 goddesses are amongst them

Re: [RUMOUR] Ben Barba to Cronulla

Really?

Parramatta have no fullback

Raiders have Jack Wighton as there best option

Titans picked hoffman for fullback with both Barba and him seemingly available

Cowboys would surely move Morgan back into the halves if Barba is as good as you claim, or barba could even play in the halves

Roosters have an unlimited salary cap and surely Barba being the amazing player that is about to magically regain top form would see RTS back on the wing

Dragons have made dugan a centre, so are you telling me the amazing barba isn't better than adam quinlan or whoever else they are going to play there

Newcastle have rid themselves of the deadweight boyd, surely the would love barba
and you can confirm that none of those teams are interested in signing barba? epic lolz.

He got plenty of chances. Bennett said he wants to work with him but Barba obviously doesn't want to work hard for his spot. He can leave for all I care. If they don't want to play for the Broncos they can **** off. Same goes for the fans who don't want to cheer the jersey on.
do you seriously believe that Bennett hasn't intended from day 1 for Boyd to play FB for the Broncos? Barba would be prepared to work hard for his spot if there was more than an icecubes chance in hell that he would get it. Bennett brings Boyd with him to play FB wherever he goes. Bennett specifically stated that Boyd is the best fullback out of him, Barba, Hoffman and Hodges. At a press conference. In front of everyone.

Yet you still seem to think that the FB spot was up for grabs lol.

The only stuff that has come out in the media is that he won't be getting the 1 or the 6 but bennett wasn't to use him as a 'weapon off the bench'.

Anything else is assumptions.

If Barba is on his hands and knees begging to stay like some of you are claiming, the blokes got a contract he could just say I'm staying
Why would Barba want to play off the bench for 10 minutes a game? Hes one of the most talented players the game has ever seen. It's hilarious that you're trying to paint him being told "you wont get number 1 or 6, which are the only spots in the team you can play, but you can have 10 minutes off the bench" into him cracking the sads for no reason and wanting out lol.

Where is Barba going to be ripping it up from? the bench for 10 minutes a game?

Re: [RUMOUR] Ben Barba to Cronulla

not every club has the cap room to make a move right now either. dragons have no room. i highly doubt cowboys do either. parra signed robinson and made four other signings the other day. obviously not big names but it all adds up. dont forget they are paying a few duds (sandow + norman) a heap of cash

dugan only played centre because he was playing origin there. will be fb this year.

interesting point re hoffman v barba and the titans. would asking price be much different?

Obviously not because I don't think Barba should ever play fullback again. But he could still try and earn another spot in the team.

Hoffman had also been given a release whereas Barba hasn't, so theres that.

lol where? hes a fullback, potentially could be a good half.

Boyd has fullback for 2015-2017. Bennett has said this.
Milford has five-eighth for the foreseeable future. Bennett has said this.
Hunt has halfback for the foreseeable future. Bennett has said this.

Where can Barba play as a fullback or half when those 3 spots are taken? Prop maybe? Hes not a centre or winger, hes too small. hes not a hooker.

I actually thought Barba was looking good in the halves at the end of the season, he was one of the few who were really trying. Oh well, he'll carve up for whoever he goes too, I'm sure of it.

Well if he's not good enough to play those positions he can leave. There's potentially a bench utility spot that he could fill well. If not, bye Ben

Re: [RUMOUR] Ben Barba to Cronulla

A dally m winner who is in his prime age wouldn't want to play bench utility, and rightfully so. To even suggest it is ridiculous and shows just how unreasonable you are being in the discussion.

He has been told he cant play the positions that he plays, and it looks like he is leaving. Good on him, and its a huge loss for the broncos and its only happening because Bennett has to bring his love child with him everywhere he goes. Thats the thing that people are upset about. We're losing one of the best players in the game purely because of bennetts bias towards his son.

Lol, now you are just getting carried away.

Barba would be a long way down the list of the most talented players the game has ever seen. The Broncos themselves have lost many better players than Barba.

Ben Barba is under more pressure following the arrival of Anthony Milford.

THE birth of his third child ensured Ben Barba was a no-show when Brisbane began their NRL pre-season training.
But another new arrival might soon take precedence for Barba if he wants to thrive in the Broncos’ family.Barba’s manager Chris Orr played down the ex-Dally M Medallist’s absence from training on Wednesday, saying his out-of-favour client was spending quality time with his growing family. However, some tough love lies ahead for Cronulla target Barba if he remains at Brisbane under new coach Wayne Bennett.WAYNE’S WORLD COULD ENTICE FOLAU‘SUPERSTAR’ MILFORD THE NEXT JT: HODGES

Ben Barba is under more pressure following the arrival of Anthony Milford.

“Ben is no different to the other players,” Broncos CEO Paul White said.“They will have to work hard and earn their stripes. And Wayne is very direct and honest with players.“Everyone will know exactly where they stand and, if they embrace that, they will have success.“If they don’t, it makes it hard.”If Barba had not realised how far he had fallen out of favour at Brisbane, the Broncos’ 2015 jersey launch on Wednesday would have been a sobering sight.Brisbane proudly placed recruit Anthony Milford on centre stage and spruiked his worth as five-eighth — the position Barba had held for the latter part of the 2014 season. And a return to fullback for Barba appears out of the question due to Darius Boyd’s imminent signing.BENNETT A NO-SHOW ON FIRST DAY BACK

Anthony Milford was the new star chosen to launch the Broncos’ new jersey.

White said they hoped to finalise a deal with Boyd sooner rather than later after the troubled fullback secured a release from Newcastle last week.“We are still in discussions with his manager but we are confident we might be in a position to make an announcement in a week or so but we can’t get ahead of ourselves,” White said.Barely 12 months after his triumphant arrival at Brisbane, Barba appeared set for a low-key departure with a year to run on his contract after being granted permission to talk to other clubs by Bennett. But, Orr played down speculation Barba was on the way out, saying rumours Cronulla had already begun talks were false.“He is still contracted to the Broncos,” Orr said.“Nothing has changed. At this stage, it is speculation. He has not spoken to anyone. He is yet to speak to Wayne about where he sits in the pecking order.”

Re: [RUMOUR] Ben Barba to Cronulla

so barba wasnt at training because they had a third child.

was he actually seen with ennis? maybe they were just catching up, as you know, mates do that from time to time. but then why would he be interstate if they JUST had a kid.

bennetts had a chat with everyone but apparently not barba, if you believe Orr?

ahh who knows.

Re: [RUMOUR] Ben Barba to Cronulla

So the Sharks forum pick up a rumour from the Lurker (or the other way around), that Barba was having coffee in the shire. The fact he wasn't at the Broncos pre-season opening training day, helped the usual suspects assume that as fact, and use it as something to throw around in their Bennett induced folie...

Turns out, the birth of his child was the reason he wasn't at training, but let's not let this get in the way of pushing an agenda.
It's quite likely that Barba planned his child's birth as a protest to Bennett's choice of handing 3 of the spine positions before a single day of training!

Re: [RUMOUR] Ben Barba to Cronulla

Just putting it out there, but how many of you guys would be upset if Boyd somehow decided not to come, and Barba was told by Wayne that he would be playing fullback??? Now I know this is highly unlikely, but not impossible, just want your thoughts...
