2013 wasn't hooks fault obviously but he played a big part in 2014. I'm pretty sure barba was hating life in 2013 as well. I feel Bennett can really do good things with barba, that's if he has faith in barba as he did Soward

I don't think Barba was ever going to be the player fans expected him to be in 2014 but being forced into a playmaking role because Hook & Gee stuffed the halves certainly falls back on them.

I love watching Barba play. I even enjoyed his quiet season with us and I was blowing up in the Bennet thread months ago about it.

The thing is a knew a few people who knew Barba here and most the public opinions of him regarding his behaviour off the field were pretty close to the mark. Maybe Bennet doesn't think he's the type of player who he wants in a team that needs rebuilding.

There could be a lot goon on behind the scenes that we don't know about Barba and Boyd. I doubt Bennet would let Boyd follow him around if he was dead weight.

Or maybe he just disagrees with us on which player has more talent..

I really don't think Barba's season was that bad either and I agree, he really started to find that spark at the back end of the season and started looking dangerous. Just give him time, you can't fluke the form he had in 2011 and 2012. A lot of the pressure will be off with Milford in the halves this season, rather than having Hoffman at 5/8. When Barba started to perform it may not be a coincidence that Hoffman wasn't playing in the spine and we had a decent ball-player in Hodges playing Fullback.

Oh was that the year when his g/f and mother of his children left him, he had alcohol and gambling problems, and he got treated for depression (you know, that same thing that gives Boyd a free ride for his terrible performances all year)?

Hmm, interesting. In regard to Darius, I have heard/read from a few people on Twitter that he's wife, Kayla has apparently given him an ultimatum about moving up here to Brisbane. She has told him it is either her or Wayne and that is it, he has to decide once and for all. If this rumor is true, I feel a bit sorry for Darius and his shouldn't be forced to decide between he's wife and Father Figure, right?

just because darius doesnt move to brisbane doesnt mean he cant maintain a great relationship with wayne.

football will all be over in a few years for him i think he should do whats best for his family (unless he wants out, obviously), but this is all private life stuff that we will not know all the facts on nor should really be overly concerned with - except for the result being where he plays next season

Would be an interesting thing to watch him react to that ultimatum! I'm trying to imagine my wife saying 'It's me or the Broncos!'

im definitely glad he's staying and hope he shows he should be in the starting 13.

i'd love to see a firing barba at fb with hodges/boyd centres and copely + vidot/take your pick on the other wing.
