Could Bennett take Taylor from Titans?

Fair enough. But people change, especially when money is involved.
 
I have to admit I don't really see the problem with letting him go, but mind you I follow soccer so it's normal in that environment to see a player leave and return after having first team action under their belt.

This is where a loan system would be really, really good for the NRL. Stops teams from hoarding talent and potentially ruining their career because they can't get a run elsewhere, and also helps the players which ultimately should be the first responsibility.

Think of it this way, if we didn't let him go, made him wait, and then he signed elsewhere because he got jack of it, and then the hunt scenario happened, it'd be a lot harder to get him back than making a concerted effort to give him first team football because he needed it to develop.

You can't keep everyone. The next best option is letting the players know you're looking out for them by giving them time elsewhere, and if it works out, bring them back next contract.

NSWRL are far, far too selfish for that to happen.

Imagine a loan system between the SL and the NRL. Gets first team exposure + gets to travel, we benefit, they benefit because their comp gets stronger + financials can be shared amongst clubs (wage splitting), and we actually create a bit of a market.

Cannot see any downfalls.

I'll jump on this wagon. I wonder if the teams could organise it themselves, I mean, Bennett has the contacts.

Fantasy land stuff. Remember the deal Kalyn Ponga signed?? Ash Taylor is one of the best young halves in the game. He is going to get huge offers.

Milford, Kodi, Hunt, Marshall often do things out of nothing which result in tries, not necessarily for them. I believe better attacking coaching (like we was with Walters here) would make us even better.


Yes, we were there a few times, and I'm not trying to bash Bennett ala AP. Fact is we've fizzed out in the business end of the season more often than not, and we definitely were not genuine premiership candidates nearly every year.

You want to pretend there are no issues, or that we couldn't have done better, that's your prerogative. But we've had the same issues with beating the top teams for a very long time, unless we're exceptionally good in defense, because we can't break them with creative attack and a structure that promotes it.

As usual, it seems like any criticism of Bennett draws the usual resistance...

I have posed this question as a hypothetical before, whether the biggest recruiting blunder that the broncos perhaps made was letting Bellamy go and not replacing Bennett with Bellamy?

It would have been a huge call, but it would be interesting to have seen what Bellamy would have done with our roster between 2004 to 2016. In that time we have won one G/F and lost one. I suspect that the total would be markedly different if there had of been a coach change to Bellamy. Whether I (or quite a few of us) could have lived with the style of football we would be playing is another question. But hindsight is always king as usual.
 
I guess the back story of "Wayne chasing Ash".......is that he has shown he has zero confidence in KNik being anymore than just a stop gap half.

Wonder how Kodi feels about that......

Never going to happen due to provincial nature of NRL but love the idea. Problem is it would increase talent hoarding (which I personally think is fine if you developed it) as big teams would send all the promising juniors for a year or two abroad. Might make them more rounded persons going to England or France and gettigg away from the Aussie media.
 
Just listening to Triple M, and for what it's worth; James Hooper and Dell are of the opinion Ash will be back at the Broncos. Hoops noted that the Titans have been trying to extend Ash's deal all season but he is reluctant to commit and believes this is because he wants to return to Red Hill.
 
If Taylor wants a million I'd rather sound out Maloney....

Can't believe I said that. I feel dirty.
