Dale Copley - Appreciation Thread

I have never rated him that highly till this year and he has proved me wrong. Before this year I thought he was to slow, had almost no agility and was a liability but he has shown me up and won me over with a strong season. Future Origin player for sure.

I remember saying with injuries to QLD he should be able to make a claim for an Origin spot this year and I copped it so much on here. I didn't say it was a guaranteed spot though. The Chambers selection was ridiculous. He played one good game at the right time, whilst Copley had a bad game at the wrong time.

How was it ridiculous? fair enough that Dale had been having a better year but the Chambers selection was a no brainer imo.

Chambers plays alongside Cronk, Smith and Slater and knows their games well and had a promising debut and played a lot better than I expected.

Chambers was having a Maranta of a year until the week before the team was picked.

Chambers played wing. Dale has showed on numerous times that he is rubbish under the high ball. You can't risk that at origin level.

Can't fault Dale in the centers though. He has been sublime, particularly on that left side.

Fantastic to have him locked up for another couple of years. Next year under Bennett I reckon he will start at centre. Reed will either have to slim down and find some serious form to play centre or bulk up and get some power for the second row.

No it can't. My logic wasn't that you pick the safest player under the high ball you possibly can, it was that you can't pick a player who has such a glaring problem at one critical aspect of the game the way Copley does under the bomb.

Future rep centre. Everyone knows it and NSW fear it. Their left edge is going to be paper thin in coming years.

I came up with it the moment I first saw the post months ago but had never bothered to post that till just then. He is a future rep player no doubt but I still think Dale has some work to do before he can be considered. It's just my opinion that if he was a Blue he would be behind those guys I mentioned.

Yeah I love Copley but he'S behind all those players at the moment and literally no body on nsw is scared of the thought of Copley playing origin.

Ferguson was one of the most talented players in the comp. His talent was almost like directly proportional to his retardation, and he kept trying to push the limit.
