Dally M Awards

It does seem a flawed system, you just have to be the best player on your team and win a couple games.

But i honestly don't know you fix it?
Don't have a voting system like they do for each game.

But in a sense, truly the dally m should've gone to either ponga, sj or Walsh and it's hard to argue with either ponga or sj, kalyn was the reason knights made a run and went deepish into the finals

Yeah well that says it all how shit the system is. Has been like that for a while to be honest. He played awesome but he only existed for half a year. I personally believe Walshy was fat and away the best player this year as would nearly everyone on that stage have realised bar maybe SJ who has a serious ego about him. I feel for Kalyn cause you would like to win that award knowing you have been the best player which respectfully he hasn’t. I personally don’t mind that he won though cause he has been top 3 a heap of times and I think he was so unlucky not to get in the year Roger won it. I get that it doesn’t draw the same attention like the count does but it’s time we go to a coach voted MVP or something like that.

Get the refs to do it. If you aren't going to do it properly and are going to stuff it up, they are who you want to do it.

But yeah, half a season being the best player in a winning team wins this award. And any award that says Matt Orford is the best player in the league can not be taken seriously.

I think it's more ludicrous that Drinkwater finished in 3rd, that would've been an error if he had won - he couldn't due to being suspended

System is beyond floored. There was not another knights player in sight throughout the whole count. KP takes max points whilst teams like the Broncos and Penrith have to spread the points.
There is no world where KP was better than Walsh this year.

How do you decide it then? Just opinion at the end of the year? It will just be tainted by events occurring later in the year
NBA style. 100 media votes across all platforms. Usually comes out right. Ponga played like 15 games lol that is a gee up

No Penrith or Bronco player in sight, as already discussed. It’s a selfish award really, happy for Hynes to win one last year but similar sort of scenario.

The 3-2-1 system is always going to be flawed. I feel like awarding each player an individual score is better, though this probably has flaws too.
Still, Ponga was one of the top 5 players this year IMO, and arguably the main reason for the Knights huge turnaround.

Shaun Johnson ego about him? I have heard it all now.

Who is Max Gowan and why are they putting an AFL guy on an ad during a RL awards show. Know your audience, Lululemon.

That would have been the joke of all jokes.. but again, standout player in a shit side.

I'm shocked Carrigan received the award over Isaah. Patty was my choice, but I thought the award was based on ladder positioning. Last time I checked Yeo was ahead of Carrigan, but they never completely updated it.

Otherwise I can't really argue the other choices. It's difficult to go past Jamayne considering he was more pivotal to his team than To'o.

Usually halves aren't as plucky during their second season, but Ezra kept on trucking and has been involved in some pivotal tries this year.

Outside of that Round 1 game where he bombed a sitter against the Broncos, I can't remember Liam Martin having a bad game for the Panthers. I don't think there was an obvious pick and it could have easily gone to Nikora, but Origin may have given Martin the edge.

Happy for all the Broncos and ex-Broncos.
