The above scenarios could happen to a player of any age. The rule for players across the board is to honour your signature along the dotted line.

Nice argumentative skills though young whippersnapper. icon_thumbs_u

I really get sick and tired of old farts complaining about the younger generations. The old farts are to blame for the economic crisis.. How is your super clowns...

Nup. Agree with Flutterby. Sick of kids expecting the world to roll over to do what they want. Sign a contract, honour the contract.

firstly, I love your Avatar Coxy.

But seriously though, rebutting your point, What if the younger kids sign a contract worth $75k per yr thinking its a good deal but then a better offer comes from a different club the next day because the club hadn't heard about the deal and that contract is $150k per yr and closer to their family as well? I'd want to bite out of that contract and sign the other contract. You would also want whats best for your family, especially if the familys only young

thats why players have managers to look after their interests.

Any interview audio links for any of this?

How many threads have you asked this in?

Even if it's only the one, it's a stupid question. You either didn't look yourself, or you couldn't find it - which means it doesn't exist 99.9% of the time.

You've already cemented first place in my BHQ's Most Annoying Member nomination.

It's the little things that annoy me [icon_lol1.

Not really, like I said it's the little things that annoy me. I completely realise and accept that I am strange.
I can't stand it when people ask for links. I don't know why.
F-ing google it. If it's not there, check the usual sources. If it's not there, bad luck. Move on.

Anyone know if there is a clause in DT's contract saying that he can break it if Taylor gets fired?

maybe he can change his name to Jason and then act like he thought he was the one who got fired?

ok Next attempt :(

If a player (or actually their manager) doesn't sound out all the clubs and consider all their options before signing a contract, then tough - they deserve to get a lower pay due to their idiocy.

And seriously? A club not having heard about the deal? Every club knows when every player is off-contract and they are speaking to their managers (offically or unofficially) and putting their offers on the table well in advance of their current contract expiring.

Yeah, and if you sign a 3 year deal, and in year 1 you play an absolutely awesome season and play for QLD and Australia, that shouldn't then give you the right to go to club B and say "hey, my current club's only paying me X but I'm an international, want to double it?"

That's the risk you take when you sign a multi-year deal, particularly as a young player. You can take your chances and gamble with a 1 year deal and hope you don't have a shocker.

Or your existing club may agree to upgrade your contract as a bonus for your performance. But they're within their rights not to (if there's no clauses in about upgrades based on performance).
