OFFICIAL David Fifita signs with the Titans

It seems with each offer there is more outrage over the fact that he hasn’t signed with us yet.

Which is stupid.

I can’t think of a single person his age that would not consider such big money. If people say they wouldn’t give that kind of money the same amount of thought, especially at that age, they’re lying.

He doesn’t owe the club shit. It’s the job of the welfare department to look after the players. If they had left him there in Bali to fend for himself, then they wouldn’t be doing their job.

It’s ridiculous to be outraged over him being torn. He came from nothing. He wants to provide for his family and buy his mother a house and he is being offered that chance now. But yet he is still torn, that says a lot right there.

Well he's going to the titans sooo he'll get the Ash Taylor treatment... soo after a few good games "this guy is the next immortal"... then if he has some bad games everyone will forget who he is... or start wondering when he will get his form back... and then he'll have Septembers off.
And then we hopefully get him back on unders when he is ready to be at the peak of his career at 24/25/26. 🤷‍♂️

The Titans were good to watch under Neil Henry.
Jarred Hayne was a mistake that it really seemed the NRL forced on the club. Hayne did not want to be there. Then Brennan cam along with Peachy and Cartwright and the team really went backwards.
Now with Holbrook there they've adapted better to the new rules than we have. Dropping Cartwright is a good sign that Holbrook isn't an idiot. I think Peachy goes soon too as hes been benched.

I'll believe it when I see it.

One thing I will say, I don't blame anyone for being upset with Fifita. Nobody likes to feel deserted especially during these trying times and to lose somebody you've been led to believe will lead this club forward is demoralising.

It would be one thing to lose these players when the club is in a good position, for these players to leave right now is a real kick in the guts.

At this stage, I still believe he stays with the Broncos. I didn't read anything into Seibold's response tonight. He was putting over Dearden, Paix, Flegler, Farnworth and co. and Joel Gould who Seibs has a history with decided to interrupt that tangent with a question that's been asked a thousand times.

So you are working at company A) for 70k a year, but company B) offers 250k a year. You enjoy working at A) they've treated you well but will never pay you what B) is offering.

At B) you will be doing the exact same job, with from everything you have heard a slightly better boss.

Then take into consideration that you are 19/20 years old and at maximum have 10 years ahead of earning max coin before your body starts to dictate how much you can earn, and you have to retire from the only job you know at 33.

There is no way in hell you knock back B)'s offer, i'm sorry you just dont.

All these figures are all obviously hypothetical, just trying to show my point.

I don't wanna lose him and still have hope he stays, we helped develop him, he has good friends here, helped him out of a shit spot in Bali, but I cant begrudge a bloke for taking stupid money on offer.

Just like above A) wants to keep you but they cant afford to pay someone in your role $250k a year when they have other spots to fill.

Still hope he stays though, just dont see it as likely
Thats all well and good but we’re talking millions of dollars. You could literally never have to work again after 2 years. With this kind of money being thrown around it’s a greed thing, take your cash at either club and be done with it.

This.

Also how nice of Dave to see that this all came out the afternoon of our game. A real team man and leader.

We turned a blind eye when he was out at a club well after midnight the night before playing a shocker in our then biggest lost.

We defended this mug lair when he chased after bouncers.

We made all sorts of excuses when he literally bribed his way out of jail.

Now we seem surprised he is leveraging outside offers to extort every last bit of salary cap space that we should be spending on building a spine, literally and figuratively.

The Titan's money is insane but it's not like we are offering chump change. $800k odd is still serious money and more than fair for a 20 yo with not even 40 games under his belt. I know he'll be passing up on some serious cash if he stays but if he can't be comfortable, provide for his family and secure his future with the money he will get from the Broncos, then he has a problem.

Am i still right in assuming the delay is down to his management 'issues' [emoji848]

I'd rather the Broncos make a play for Harry Grant, extend Dearden's contract and recruit a fullback with leadership skills. Too much money has been concentrated in the forwards. As has been said, the spine wins you games, not forwards.

In saying that, I'd prefer to keep Fafita at $800k max, but let go of Offa, Lodge, Bird, MILF, Croft, Boyd (retirement), Isaako

I would love to see broncos do a blind side play and let Fifita go, throw that money at Grant, put Paix back in the halves with dearden. Let the rest of the leaches go

so its come to this...

Losing our 1 generational talent......to the Titans...!

I suppose this would literally represent the bottom of our current malaise....

Which means it can only go onwards and upwards...from that point on...

Take a look at how the roosters handled contract talks with Mitchell. Offered him a fair price and set a date to chose by. If he doesn’t want it see ya later. The irony is that extra pressure early on probably would’ve kept him.

What a joke this has turned into, dragging this out for so long. I cannot believe Broncos fans on here have no issue with this and support him. Has the hatred for Seibold and the administration made you death ride your club this much? How ridiculous. I hate Seibold and I hate the administration but the club should always come first. Celebrating a player that has been developed by the club and the club has stood by when he gets himself into a fucking Bali jail cell only for him to turn around and turn the club into a circus for months when they needed stability more than ever blows my fucking mind. It's not like we offered him chump change either.

I hope he goes to the Titans and is crushed under the weight of expectation that the money brings and has a very short career. I am disgusted the club hasn't pulled the offer from the money grubbing ****.

Jesus fucking Christ, quit pissing your pants. Right now, he's one of ours. He's been offered the biggest payout of any player in the history of rugby league, and he still hasn't taken it. That in itself is enough loyalty. What he does next is anyone's guess but a sane human being would take it, given the mess the Broncos are in, and the Titans being just down the road.

What if he does take a million dollar hit to stay: is he going to feel good about that? And more to the question, are you going to feel like a complete **** for badmouthing him?

And what if the Broncos match the Titans' offer, and piss off every other player who's on half that? Like whats happened with Milford and Bird. Think about this. Think about what his mate Payne Haas is being paid, and how he must be feeling given the effort he puts in week in, week out.

Where i think our recruitment and retention has gone wrong is that we have aimed to recruit and retain individually good players with potential. We have not looked to recruit and retain players that make the TEAM better.

The old saying goes that a champion team will beat a team of champions.
