Dearden

Too early to tell with Dearden considering his youth and the terrible squad that he is a part of. He has some good traits about him, a decent short kicking game, a good show and go, above average speed and has a good pass in him.

Plenty of deficiencies in him as well, poor defensive reads, a horrid long kicking game, poor last tackle options occasionally, a very slow hand to foot transfer and just overall inexperience.

Not an easy job at age 19 being thrust into a playmaking role in one of the worst RL sides of the modern era under possibly the worst first grade coach in the history of the sport but he definitely gets a pass mark, maybe a C-. As far as he being our long term option, it's hard to say, the game makes no promises and only time will tell.

Yes both him and Carrigan don't warrant the hype about them. They are both young guys that everyone raves but I suppose we need try and find some joy in this mess.

You know Pat does. You really must be blind i think.

I see Carrigan being our long term rock in the team. He's still making a lot of errors though which must be coached out of him, fix those and he'll likely find himself an origin jumper probably off the bench though.

@Broncapz He's still going to be better than Cleary, right? Your thoughts on this thread would be appreciated!

Maybe you arent blind, you might just not be a good judge of footy players. Thats probably what it is.
Seems to give away a lot of penalties/repeat sets but if he gets that out of his game he’ll go good.

We'll be talking about Dearden the way we talk about Locky and Alfie. In 15 years there will be a statue of him outside of Suncorp as a permanent fixture.

In that time he'll lead us to no less than FOUR premierships.

Maybe, maybe not but whatever let's you sleep at night. Carrigan might be great down the line but he isn't there yet and no way should he be captain.

Pats got a big motor Wolfie, once its tuned up he will be the exact type of player we need for the resurrection
Yep big motor but is it. No offload, can't run a decent line and pretty average in defence at best. Oh yeah and runs sideways and wastes a tackle and there is a good chance he will drop the ball anyway. Yet he might be a star in the making but he is not all that and a packet of Smith crisps just yet.

He rarely drops the ball, he rarely makes bad misses in defence either, especially when you look at the amount of work we force him to do every week.

Reminds me a bit of Parker, hopefully he works on an offload in the pre season.
