No big surprise I guess. Move topic where necessary.

Sounds like he might be left in the lurch - not going to Souths, not staying at the Broncs.

IMO if I was him I'd chase a gig in the SL - prove yourself as a head coach then wait for the merry-go-round to open up a free spot.

Wait, I thought he had told his family he was off to Sydney.

Barker and Hickmans will also be gone as Seibold brought his own people for those positions

I thought Bennett always took his support staff with him ?[emoji848]
Seems he has left them in the lurch here

despite Souths losing the support staff that followed Seibold, apparently they are happy with what they have ...

Surely Bennett would have known that before signing as well.

Interesting. I remember reading last week how happy some Rabbits fans were that they were getting JD, presumably to take over after Wayne. Well, nuts to that. I wonder how Wayne feels about this?

I wasn’t really impressed by what JD produced here.

Wasnt JD our defensive coach for 2018? Good riddance if so.

He was meant to be but he took over our attack after walters left. Bennett was overseeing the defence in 2018.

I would have preferred if brisbane kept demetriou on garden leave for 6 months. Bennett did say he didnt want guarantee him a job supposedly, but demetriou was doing a lot of the heavy lifting in the coaching department last year judging by what the players have said and media reports. It would have called bennetts bluff again. Although demetriou seems like a nice guy so ah well..

If I was JD I would be knocking on St George's door. Surely Mary cannot get a contract extension and must be gone after 2019?

Not that upset to be honest. JD seemingly does well at the Cows to win them a premiership (by 1 point, after the Broncos choked like a top rated Pornhub video) then comes here and is a total bust. Our defence went steadily backwards under his tenure, and our attack last year I would call "decent", not so much amazing.

So.....Bye?

We finished 3rd for points scored with 556 - souths topped it with 582. Attack wasn't our problem.

Didn't Souths just hire/re-sign Furner?

Edit: NVM, the signing news I was thinking of was him to Leeds.

In which case, who will be Bennett's assistant at Souths? Did they already sign someone for 2019, did Bennett not want JD or did JD not want to move South?

You couldn’t fairly categorise it as bad, but it isn’t anywhere close to where it should or could be. In all honestly, we fluke too many of our points. Attack will improve with defence though, sort the defence and we are contenders for sure.

Again - we finished 3rd in points scored. 26 points from the 1st. It is more than enough unless we need to score 700 points a season.

I do however agree with you on the defence side of things, and again the stats back that up. 9th in defence - 500 points conceded, and the only side in the top 8 to have leaked 500 points. No wonder we conceded 40+ against the dragons in the semi's (I will concede that a mixture of injuries and youth/inexperience did not help this)

Isn't it more of a not renew your contract than a sacking. Either way, I hope we didn't do another Bellamy.

it is a sacking as he was contracted until the end of 2019, but unlike with Bennett, we are giving him a pay out
