NEWS Dodgy Deal: Broncos accused of deception by Schoolboys captain

Has a smell of raw fish to it. I don't see these claims happening under the current HQ.
 
I am almost certain it's nowhere near as bad as the headlines make it out to be

If he was threatening to leave the code the spin would be 'Young New Zealand born Karl Oloapu who has dreamt of representing the All-Blacks since he was 3 years old'.

The Mole is rock bottom end when it comes to anything leading to anything else, but the fact the Broncos have acknowledged it in an immediate press release and the piece is based around unambiguous quotes from the player, his agent and his brother - all of whom have been involved in the contract process - doesn't leave much room to spin this any worse than it is.

The Mole appears to be leaning to the player's side of the story, but the Broncos have ample avenues to respond and have done so.
 
I think if he genuinely wanted to leave there are better ways of doing it than taking the Payne Haas method. I cant see the point of keeping an unhappy player and if we could work something out and he turns into a star and wants to come back at some point no bridges would have been burnt.

He might well feel he has been hard done by, but it seems he has had bad advice from somewhere and he just has to live with it and learn from it.

It’s left egg on Karl’s face cause it’s obvious that he didn’t have a top 30 spot on offer, that was just pure lies. As well as his claims of Broncos wrongdoings or dealings in bad faith have been shit down by the NRL. He has absolutely nothing. The club has come out and released a statement that is nothing but welcoming for Karl whilst clearing the air with elements that they can prove (e.g NRL investigation). Karl has one option really and that’s to suck it up for 3 years and play. It’s obviously about money and that attitude makes me want him to sit on the sidelines for 3 years. Absolute disgraceful behaviour from him and his agent and if anything I think punishment should be inflicted on him, his manager and the Dolphins for offering a contract to a player before his new one even begins.
 
Cant release him without releasing Payne months ago, so time to adhere to your contract bud

New Manager rolls out the "upgrade us or we want out line" - DD denies request. Multiple times.

Manager goes to media to put pressure on the club... For the love of god, he is just a kid, let him play etc....

DD again calls their bluff with press release.

This has been well played by the club. We are no longer going to be walked over by players or managers. Standards have been set.

Like i said before, its better to talk it out with the club and try to come to an agreement rather than do this sort of thing. Didnt work for Payne, isnt going to work for Karl.
