any backline with lockyer in it, along with some other players like Hodges, Tuqiri, Tate and Berrigan is not 'ordinary'. how many origin matches do those guys have between them, 60 or so? maybe more?

half of what makes lockyer so good is how well he sets up other people, meaning that even when we havent had the biggest names we have had a backline very capable of scoring points.

ive proven time and time again that i know rugby league. i wasnt the one calling carney a fullback. i wasnt the one saying wallace is a great halfback. i wasnt the one saying a halfback doesnt need to be a playmaker. i wasnt the one saying michaels was the next big thing. i wasnt the one saying ............. you get my drift.

people that obviously dont know football, and have only been watching it a handful of years, telling me that 'i dont understand footy' means nothing to me.

Hodges being ruled out for 6 months only means he'll miss the 4 games that he wouldn't have missed due to injury anyway.

honestly, i dont really think this is too big a loss. its certainly good for QLD, as it means we get the centre pairing of Inglis and Tonga, which is a much better pairing than Inglis/Hodges. for all the talk about Hodges on here, he really has done very little with his career. he was the best centre in the game for about 6 weeks back in like 2004, but apart from that, hes done very little to deserve his reputation.

hodges is a good player.......when he plays. whats hard to understand about that? he has done little to deserve his reputation as one of the games great that people around here seem to give him.

my view didnt change at all. any backline that has hodges and lockyer in it is a good attacking backline. the problem with it is that you rarely get hodges and lockyer in the same backline as hodges is always injured.

most teams would have WISHED they had our backline for many of those years.

This is what shits me most about AP.

For those who don't know, he is referring to me with the whole "I'm not the one who said halfbacks aren't supposed to be playmakers" thing.

To set the scene, AP went on his anti-Bennett agenda and criticised the selection of Premiership Winning Halfback Shane Perry.

Anyways, I did my thing explaining Perry's worth to the team was his defence and organisational skills and that he gave us much needed direction that our alternative halfbacks of that season (Seymour and Berrigan) couldn't. That wasn't enough for AP though and then he called Perry one of the worst attacking halfbacks ever. I tried to get it through his thick skull that not many people would argue that, and that he was in the team for other reasons and played his role to perfection. I then went onto explain that he was getting Perry's role in the team confused with the playmaker's (Lockyer). He then asked me if I was implying that halfback's shouldn't be playmakers, and I replied that traditionally yes your halfback should be your playmaker, but in this case Lockyer was our playmaker and in career best form so our halfback didn't need to be a playmaker. But AP kept on thinking that I was saying halfbacks don't need to be playmakers, even though I said that traditionally yes your halfback is your playmaker.

Hope that's not too hard to understand. It was and still is for AP, but I know BHQ is a lot smarter than AP in general.

Rocky staunchly defended his claims that carney was a fullback, not a half. Not that he was a half playing at fullback - that he was a fullback, full stop.

Jeb, when questioned on his idea of what a halfbacks role is, specifically said that being a playmaker is NOT a requirement of a half lol.

Seriously we all know he will never ever ever admit to being wrong about anything and people who continue to debate with him in this way are pretty much as bad as he is.
