(Ex-) Cronulla players admitted drug cheats!

You have absolutely no idea if they were unaware of the doping or not at this stage.

If there was anyone knowingly doping, there should be no minimum ban, they should be banned from competitive sports for life. None of this six month shit if you drop the other guys involved.

If these guys are actually proven to have been doping, they should feel the full force of the rules. If they are given this backdated shit, it's more than likely we will see Gallen playing, and captaining an origin team in the same season he has missed games due to doping.

I hope that any player who is given that crap sentence, is either banned further by WADA, RLIF, NRL or the club. It is unacceptable to send the message that if you do this, you'll get no more than a slap on the wrist.

Perhaps they were unaware. Perhaps they didn't know what it was that was given to them. However, that excuse is just not good enough.

A lot of doctors will tell you that reading up on what goes into your body is a smart thing to do. To better understand what it is you're actually taking.

It's not hard to take the time to do a bit of research, even idiots can do research. They are professional athletes. This sport is their life. They should learn exactly what it is to avoid situations like this, to cover their asses.

Whether they were unaware or not, they should cop the max penalty.

It may be harsh, but a message needs to be sent. What they are facing at the moment is just not good enough.

It's probably been said but wasn't 2011 the year Gallen killed it in Origin, played 80 at prop blah blah blah?

seems pretty suss to me. He may be truthfull in that he wasn't aware of what he was been given but I find that hard to believe as the sole excuse, him being around the game for a while and a senior player, you would think by then that he would be more aware of what's going on and especially what is going into his body.

Backdating suspensions is a complete crock of shit, what's the point of that!!!

It would be bullshit if they only got a ban of a few weeks but I think the difference is that O'Davis willingly took these drugs whilst these guys at Cronulla were unaware what they were.

I think the minimum ban is 6 months, If I was in charge of this investigation and could decide the penalty I would give the minimum ban as they were unaware whilst O'Davis and other cases were aware.

Please, tell me how you know they were unaware. Never be afraid to back up these grand statements, with ya know, facts

I think the issue is they will never be able to prove the players knew (but surely they did), so instead they want them to admit they took them but didnt know at the time so ASADA then have proof to go after the doctors

Gallen reminds me of Lance Armstrong for some reason so he must be guilty. ;)

It doesn't really matter whether the players knew or not, at least as far as anti-doping rules are concerned.

It has already been mentioned in here, but is is the same as if I hire an accountant to do my taxes, but they do something dodgy (like claim something they shouldn't), I'm still responsible ... even if I was unaware of it

Danny_Weidler: As of this minute all the local players bar Paul Gallen and Albert Kelly have made their minds up to accept ASADA offer - Gallen still may.

Danny_Weidler: More ... WADA have just told players they won't take further action if they accept ASADA - this is the biggest carrot to lure them.

A dead set joke, makes a mockery of the entire system.

Would think moving forward that this will set a precedent for future abusers that get caught

what a disgrace .. 18 months of posturing and grand standing and the end result looks like being a get out of jail free card for those supposedly responsible for the "darkest days in Australian sport" ...

So from douche bags in gyms right to the very top of elite sport, it seems we're living in an age where drug cheats are safe.

**** off.

Oh ****, I just realised I backed the Sharks against the Raiders, WHAT HAVE I DONE.

exactly. done for drugs? Just cue the 'chewbacca defense' ...

Probably still won't matter that the Sharks are missing those players. Ricky is destined for history

I can't believe WADA is supporting the punishment. Fucking useless *****. I hope every one of our players gets on the gear next year so we can win two premierships in a row, its worth it if the only punishment is the whole team copping a 3 week suspension 2 years later, well worth it.

Seems like Gallen took deal.

Gallen will be able to be picked for game 2 of the four nations.

What a fucking joke, the cheats got a slap on the wrist with a wet feather.
