Finals Week #3

Needs to be suspended if they are serious about the shoulder charge ban. The “I had no choice because we were at top speed” is rubbish

Seriously though, Slater has not slowed down at all, that acceleration to get there and put on that shot is something most 20 year olds can’t do.

For those who haven't seen it:

Darius Boyd did the exact same thing against the Roosters stopping Manu from scoring and he wasn't charged.

I've seen these happen a few times over the years and no one was charged. Slater won't be.

Except Boyd pushed him using his hands and the only other contact was made with his hip

It was a shoulder charge. He will miss the game if the judiciary process has integrity.

Smith had come out and said he will retire if they win the Gf

Slater set to be charged with a grade 1 offence.

He’ll be charged, he’ll sit the game out, and the rhetoric will be Cronk’s Roosters beating his old team-mates.

The NRL now don’t want the Storm to win this year. Why would they want Cam Smith to retire?

[HASHTAG]#freeslater[/HASHTAG] anyone?

If the shoulder are the hands then yeah sure. He came in with the arm tucked and used it to push him over the sideline.

Same thing Slater did. He'll get off.

Smith had come out and said he will retire if they win the Gf

He said he would consider it, not that he definitely will.

The media asked him if he would and he answered them.

No it wasnt. Thats got nothing to do with it. A head high is a head high, hitting the head is illegal and banned already. The shoulder charge was banned for the mountains of evidence that it causes brain damage.

“The NRL banned the shoulder charge after evidence showed the average G-force from one is 10.682 compared to 6.056 from the conventional front-on tackle.
Overall, shoulder charges are 76 per cent greater in impact than the conventional front-on tackle.”
And for me shoulder charges are piss weak.. you want to hit a bloke a bloke as a sign of toughness? Do it front on and under the ribs. Shoulder charges are almost always from the side, where the player you hit doesnt see you, and they are no risk to the defender. Its about as tough as a cowards punch.

Yep thats what i was getting at, I want to hit a bloke as a sign of toughness, FFS.

As far as shoulder charges are concerned it's all been covered but if safety first is the priority then you shouldn't be allowed to do it in attack either.

AT the moment of impact it looks like it is the cronulla players shoulder that is in contact with Slaters head.

You have to freeze the footage to see this. Unfortunately I don't know how to paste a still of this into a post.

Anyway Slater has also twisted his upper body so that it is almost facing the touchline. I cannot see how he would be leading with is left shoulder. It looks like his upper left side chest is contacting the side and back of the cronulla players right shoulder.

For this reason I think he will get off.

Just my opinion.

It’s nit picking. Suspend him for a shoulder charge or just bring them back. Remember when ***** we’re getting off suspensions saying they were bracing? Load of shit.

He will only retire if it helps him look good. He wants that 400 game legacy. If there’s 1 thing his “sudden” retirement from rep footy showed, c smith worries about himself first. Its why he has had such an amazing career, but its also blemished his career for me. To say he didnt know what was happening in 2007-2010 is ridiculous. Hes a smart guy. Additionally, he can also proudly claim playing a major role in the wrestling phenomenom that is now carried out by under 6’s. Seeing the arm bars and chokes carried out by kids is probably why his own kids play afl... greatest rugby league mind of his generation, and i think he among the greatest players of all time if not the greatest, but i will never hold him in the same regard as lockyer, thurston, lewis or langer as he and his organisation would sooner kill the game of rugby league then see themselves lose....

If you can bring up the Courier Mail on line, check out how hard they are going at trying to get Slater off. It's more than coincidence - it's a deadset agenda.
