Gagai released!!!!!

Bit disappointing. Very curious to see Gagai's motivation for missing 7 training sessions in the past couple of months. For a player of his talent and ability I am sure the coaching staff were very lenient. Gagai seems very retiscent about it all judging by his quotes in the paper.

Probably thought he was due a spot before Copely. Oh well, unless he signs with the Storm he will be bought by some mid-tier club, pressured as starting fullback and Denan Kemp'ed before you know it. Such is life Dane.

Wingers are a dime a dozen.

^ wonder what the 'terms' are of that arrangement ? Does he continue to train with the broncos and or have access to the club's resources ?

i wonder what we'd do if copley/beale were injured this week.

Anthony Griffin:

"At this point we've given Dane a release but he'll stay on here until he finds another club."

What an incredibly bizaare quote???

Are the Broncos Alan Jones'ing Gagai? i.e. Rip up your starchild 2014 contract, sign you back on cap-in-hand/match payment bargain basement rates?

Well it seems Dane hasn't done enough wrong to have his contract torn up, but enough to fall out of favour

So the club has told him he's not wanted and look around - he has been released, not sacked

Until he finds a new home, the Broncos are probably obligated to his current contract

it's probably fantasy world stuff in these days of fast-talking player managers but I wonder if Gagai could turn the tide over the next however long and win back the trust of Griffin et al ?

I recall a couple of other broncos over the years being told they could look elsewhere (albeit for different reasons to Gagai) but who stuck around and won back favour with Wayne Bennett .. I think Michael Hancock is one ..

My view on it is they have given him several warnings and he hasn't changed his attitude so they have said your not wanted and a free to look elsewhere. Yes the have not punted him and will use him during origin period if he still around, but Griffin seems like a 'harsh but fair' kind of guy. I'm sure if Gagai changed he's attitude permanently and played the house down he would get a second chance, it all depends on if he wants it. I'm sure bellamy or searle or madge have already been in his ear so his probably as good as gone anyway

Yeah, but right afterwards it says "in a few years time".

Well I guess that explains why he wasn't in first grade this year when I thought he probably should have been in the team at some point.

I fully trust the clubs decision and I trust they made the right choice but it will be sad for another club to pick him up and for him to become a star elsewhere.

They won't let their publicity stunt leave so quickly and easily.

Plus he'd have to put back on the 7kg he lost to fumble around.
