OFFICIAL Game III Queensland Side

you really think a bench utility that will likely have little game time will cost QLD the series? if so, you must have a poor opinion of the rest of the QLD side
No..but it might if we lose cronk early and have hunt stinking it up as qld 7.

If we lose Cronk then we're screwed regardless of who replaces him.

Personally, I think we're screwed anyway. JT is a massive loss.

No...if that happened dce and morgan would be a **** of a lot better than hunt and morgan

Surely Munster is the long term FB when Boyd and Slater give it up? DCE should be the HB next year on form, but Croft, Taylor, Norman, or someone else may come along with a strong claim.

I'd actually say Holmes is our long term fullback at the moment.

How would Morgan be playing on the wrong side? He is a 6 at club level, and he would be a 6 at Origin level..

He seems to play more on the right hand side at the cowboys and has looked good there like during his stint at centre in Origin II.

DCE would be playing on the wrong side as well, and isn't very good at playing second fiddle

Despite his youth and inexperience, Munster is accustomed to the Storm spine and I can't recall seeing a bad game from him in FG. He'll be fine in the cauldron, with a raucous crowd behind the maroons.

Munster is the wild card here. He could absolutely brain it at 6. I would rather him at 6 than Morgan.

Both Morgan and Eddie are very capable and highly competitive so I'm not bothered by their selections but Hunt has me mystified! As a utility I just don't see him covering anything other than halves or hooker so he's cover for Smith, Cronk and whoever. How often do the halves go down or Smith for that matter ? He's cover for 80 minute players ! I'd rather someone with more coverage than Hunts.

Morgan or Munster can cover any backline player's loss, and Hunt can slot into 5/8.
This way, we also have someone covering for Smith, in the unlikely event he goes down...

P.S. Who's Eddie?

The only reason I can think of for picking Hunt is if Smiths sternum is worse than we know.

Greta idea, pick the most out of form option we have because he's a good bloke over a red hot DCE because he's a bit of a twat and don't forget he fucked over the Titans that time the weasel.

I think it is a fairly poor selection unless they have plans to get Hunt on the field with Cam.

In games 1 & 2 Morgan has played stints in the middle to give Moose and co a breather. To say the utility will have minimal time on the field is a simple throw away line now, but with the inexperienced squad and lack of middle forwards playing the 80 thus far this series it suggests Hunt will have to push out at least 15-30 mins in the middle for Moose.

Given Cam will be at dummy half where does Hunt inject himself whilst out there??

Unless there's a plan to move Cam to first receiver and have Munster roam in the middle?? But that seems too disruptive in a deciding origin game full of rookies

Hunt was great for Australia off the bench. He was a turning point whenever he came on and his impact off the bench almost won us the Four Nations.

The role Hunt would have is one where he would thrive. He isn't there to control anything, isn't there to do any of the kicking or game management, he is just there to provide a bit of spark off the bench which is something he can do well despite his form against the Storm.

DCE killed his chances with a run of bad performances so now they are moving on to the next guy, who would have been Milford if he wasn't injured.
DCE had one bad performance when he started. He has never let us down off the bench. His selection was a no-brainer and the selectors even fucked this up.

It was more than one bad performance.

It was more than one bad performance.

Everyone keeps banging on about DCE bad performance in Origin DCE screwed the Titans DCE blah blah blah.
This was two years ago. Get over it.
Anyone watching DCE this season, especially the last two months, would have seen why many people in much better positions than us to judge have said DCE should be in the team.
The coach who lead Qld over that glorious period of domination was one of them....

How you performed at Origin level in the past matters a lot, especially in such an important position and especially since those performances were only a couple of years ago.

DCE was going great then, as well. But then he made the step up to Origin level and he shit the bed.

He couldn't do what he did at club level when starting at Origin level, and that matters when picking a side.

You speak about people being in much better positions than us said DCE should be in the team.. And yet the selectors, who are some of those people, feel like he shouldn't be in the side.

Are you referring to Mal's comments on Queenslanders Only?

In regards to future halves pairings there may be a thought that Hunt can fill a hole in the 7. Our most talented halves at the moment are 6's with minimal ability in kicking and game management.

Hunt with Milf has several years experience and was once touted as the future origin halves pairing.

Hunt with DCE would have Hunt perform the Blake Green role and allow DCE to focus on injecting when he wants to.

Hunt with Morgan or Munster wouldn't work for mine. Morgan is also going to be under consideration with JT out and him having to take on the role of organiser and playmaker.

It will come down to form next year Hunt in a new system could tear it up, Morgan being chief playmaker at cows could tear it up or Milf as Broncs chief playmaker could tear it up.

For me Munster looks to be our new GI in regards to being a highly skilled outside back. GI also played 6 at the storm, winning a Clive Churchill and having a limited kicking game, but was he ever really considered to be a 6?? We won't have Cooper forever and I for one see Munster as the future fullback
