CRICKET General Cricket Discussion - 2023/24

100 for Webster. He is certainly doing everything he can to keep his name in front of selectors. Two good seasons in a row.

Webster ended up 167*. He's gotta be under consideration for next man in.

Averages 35 and SR 50 .
Takes the odd wicket bb 4 /32 average 42 per wicket 80 matches for 103 wickets .
. Dunno maybe on recent form , but he has played a lot of 1st class games without knocking the door down and is 30 years old .

Bartlett with 5/45 - he is going to play tests, he must be rocketing up the pecking order. At times today he was almost unplayable.

Given Richardson seems like he will struggle to get back, Morris long term injured as well, I'd have the pecking order as such below and given Neser and Boland are getting on, I'd be looking at opportunities for:
Bartlett
Sutherland
O'Neill
Replacing Starc ? or Hazelwood ?
Thing with Starc or another left armer is the rough they make for N Lyon .

Well Paris is the obvious replacement but he is the wrong side of 30. His FC record is phenomenal though.

Of course the one who will get there most likely is Johnson but he needs more FC games than he has played currently. That said, by the time Starc pulls the pin post-Ashes most likely, he should have that experience by then.

Lyon gets his sixth and Hazlewood adds one too. Only one wicket to go now.

Well now he has announced himself, the key for Green will be to string these kinds of special performances together.

And a hundred for the only NSW player never to play for Australia - Dan Hughes...and ironically, he actually really should have.

He averages 36 in FC cricket. Almost all of his 8 hundreds have been on the wrong side of 30. Sure solid domestic career. Not really a knock the door down for Australia at any stage career let alone a should have played for Australia career.

Check out his OD record.

Good solid win, the bowlers got the job done again. That hundred from Green was special and he looked our best batsmen in the 2nd innings too (apart from Lyon maybe lol).

I don`t rate the 60 or 70 he made on day 2 .
Too many slogs . Did good with the farming the strike . But his slogging looked amateurish . And Southie went with the Patty Cummins put the field back and bowl short plan . Making it harder to get him out IMO .
