Glenn: We are the coach now

Well just as long as Darius doesn't have any say at training or they'll ALL be walking around throwing their arms in the air!!

Alex Glenn:

“This week we have come together and said we want to turn things around. One of the great things about our coach is he’s always open to ideas. He likes to keep things his way but he does compromise. ’Seibs’ understands that a football team doesn’t work just one way, he understands you have to compromise between players and staff. We have changed up the style of training from the get-go this week and it’s been unreal."

“Seibs put it on ourselves to do whatever we need to do to make sure we turn up and do our jobs this week. When you have the coach who is willing to change his training and listen to us, it’s great. We have cut out the outside noise. A lot of us went off social media, including myself, and that’s not to say we have let things dictate my emotions, me getting upset about the game last week had nothing to do with outside noise. It was the frustration of the game and the results we were getting."

“If you care for your mate you will turn up and do your job and this week was about getting that team spirit back. Mentally and physically we are prepared to go. We are competing hard and working hard and we are enjoying training as well. That was the beauty of this week _ we are bouncing around ready to go.”

Now go one further and ban him from the dressing room at half time.

I admire that they're trying to make it sound like it was Pies idea when it's obviously a full blown mutiny.

Isn't this how Bennett used to run training sometimes? I remember reading that he would let senior players take charge of training sometimes.

I would imagine when Bennett did it , it would bemore to break up training and make the team feel refreshed during the course of the season .

this under Seibold , smacks of desperation and that he has no answers as he done this after 6 straight losses.

no win situation , they win it infers he cant Coach , they lose he gets smashed for letting the players do whatever he wants

People are laughing like this is an insane idea, when it's actually an old idea that Bennett employed successfully when he was here (and not just when his team was packed full of living legends).
Other than basically his last last two seasons out of 25 here, his team was pretty much always packed full of living legends.

And?

Pies is following the old adage of 'when life gives you lemons you make lemonade'. I admire his willingness to try something new with these guys. Shit for weeks he's been getting canned for doing the same thing over and over again. Now he tries something different at training and he's immediately shat on again.

"It's only a game" ffs.
You don't think the quality of senior player you had at your disposal would impact how willing you'd be to hand over the reigns of the team for the week to those senior players?

Cool, right.

I'm not against him trying new things, God knows it can't get much worse so throwing caution to the wind is fine and nothing should be off the table, I'm just not particularly buying the idea that because Wayne Bennett did it 2 decades ago with some of the greatest leaders and players the game has ever seen that we'll achieve the same thing by simply handing control over to Darius Boyd and Alex Glenn.

Confirms what everyone has been saying. Sounds like the guy is as stubborn as a mule. He seems unwilling to take advice onboard or understand and listen to his players.

He may actively be working against the team as his bruised ego wont let him admit that he might be wrong and accept he needs to change tact.
Okay, I am not trying to be clever here but your last word should be 'tack' if you mean Seibold should change direction. I've seen tact used several times on here by others and it is often confused. I'm genuinely not trying to be offensive 👼

No win for Seibold in this - we win it was because he didn't coach or we lose.

Maybe he just wanted some personal relief from the pressure but it won't happen - I don't get it.

It's well worth watching Glenn in the pre game presser for this week.
It sounds like training up to this week has been a burden on the boys, no one is happy, mucking around etc. Glenn saying this week has been great as players have dictated how they want to train and play on Saturday.
Reference Milford a few times and the team wanting to play the style that Milford wants to play rather then the coach making Milford play a certain way or with structure.
Super interesting, and shows there is very much a divide between the players and the coaching staff as well as game plans and tactics.
If I were Seibold, I'd be having a good hard look at myself especially now that the captain has come out publically and stated they are finally happy at training again and happy to be around each other.
It all seems to come down to Seibold and the playing group not buying what he is selling.

I don't see how this can continue. If the boys are not happy with Seibold's methods, game plans, training etc (and it is certainly showing on field) then I don't know how he survives.

Unless there fitness improved dramatically nothing will change. It is a metres battle - getting quickly to the ball carrier in defence and getting as far past the advatange line on every run with a quick play the ball.

Leave the under 8s magic playbook in the bag and work harder. This really does seem like a weak playing group with a weak coach.

He's given up. He told the players to do whatever the **** they want. He doesn't give a **** anymore.
