Hodges may retire at the end of this year

You guys remember that tackle that Luke Brooks attempted and failed badly a few weeks ago? I watched Ashley Taylor do the exact same thing in an under 20s game a few weeks ago.

Hunt is a left footed kicker, suggesting he's very likely left handed as well. He's on the correct side of the field

His footy is much more that of a 5/8 than halfback, but there isn't that much difference between the roles nowadays. Look at Thurston for example...

Hasn't the kid himself said he's a 7? I'm pretty sure he has.

People are so happy to **** with our halves, it's absolutely mind boggling. All to try and make a spot available for some player who 3 people have seen play, and will probably turn out to be another useless hack of a player come first grade. BHQ certainly picks more useless nuffies than they do decent players.

Oh, move Milford to fullback, because that's going to happen!

Yeah, we should put front-rowers in the halves... you wouldn't want them to miss tackles. In fact, we probably would've been much better off with Petero at 5/8 than Locky.

He's better at fullback than left right out when we realise he hasn't become the half we need. <_<

Missing tackles isn't a problem for a half but missing those kind of tackles is.

At the start of the season I suggested Kahu was a fullback and the backlash started and now I am suggesting Taylor is a first grade half and most likely it is the same people trying to suggest he is a hack:takdir: Go for your life boys
I think the most likely move if Hodges goes next season is Kahu to centre and Anderson to wing

Our halves haven't been able to properly organise and control a single game this year, and their kicking game is average at best, especially in attack.
We have won most games on the back of extremely good goal line defense and individual brilliance here and there.

I don't let current results blind me into thinking we're at our best. I'm always looking for ways to be better and despite the position we are in now, I think we can improve by making a few changes.

I'm also not BHQ, and I don't speak for others. The only 2 players I ever gave a big wrap coming from the juniors are Kahu and now Taylor. Kahu has started to prove his worth and will hopefully be able to cement himself as Hodgo's substitute without injuries marring his future. We'll see what Taylor does...

Only the future will say whether I'm right or wrong, but I'd rather give my opinion now, than come here later and whinge about what should've been done in hindsight...

You and me both...

Locky has on occasion made horrible defensive clangers, it just came with the territory.
I'm not comparing Taylor to Locky of course, but more often than not, a halve will be vulnerable in defense. Taylor has certainly improved out of sight in that aspect, and his playmaking more than makes up for his defensive weaknesses imo.

Hunt has also been missing a lot of tackles, has made a few great saves and has let tries through too. Doesn't mean he isn't FG material.

Ok, here's my call. Kahu IS an overrated hack, and won't feature in the starting line up next year in any position of importance.

Yeah, but you were probably the type of person who said Lockyer shouldn't have been at 5/8 either. We need to give Milford half a chance before we start replacing him with a bloke that hasn't even cracked the NRL.

I also find it hard to believe the Broncos would sign a hack as someone put it in this thread to a 3year $300000 deal at 18 years old. Not sure what the Nikorimas were on but probably not that coin.
I assume they have a lot of faith Taylor is first grade material.
This is probably the wrong thread I lose track of where I am sometimes

This is a reasonable quote but as a football club you also have to have an eye on the future or you risk spiraling downhill like Manly very fast. There only course of action is getting one of two guys to renege on a deal because they had no alternate plans

So you're saying Manly should have seen Foran and DCE leaving in advance and should have dropped one of them to prepare for the future?

There is a good chance Milf/Hunt are our halves for AT LEAST 5 more years, however since we might lose one before then... Maybe we should drop Hunt to QCup and give Taylor a go in his natural position and drop Milf to the bench so Jayden can have a shot as well... Just incase Hunt and Milf decide to leave later on, because **** consistency we gotta try out any prospect we see in any position regardless of who is already there.

Kahu is solid but not a star imo, he is one more injury away from playing for the Eels.
