"Hoffy isn't the guy for Fullback" - Hodges

Lets not be stupid about this, that is something Furner and the Raiders would do. Being vindictive like that because a player has "hurt our feelings" is not the Bronco way.

Bennett dropped Hodges back to the reggies when he signed with the Roosters.......

I can't help but notice that Hoffman isn't the NZ fullback anymore. That's odd, because that was Hoffman and his managers only reasoning behind him whinging wasn't it?

Has he fucked off to the Dogs yet?

No but there are rumours he is looking into possible Samoan heritage so he can get a game at fullback:laugh:

Different situations IMO.

Hodges was mid season, while Hoffman was end of season
Hodges was not established yet, while Hoffman is

In the Hodges situation, Bennett was banking on Hodges replacing Sailor the following year, but since Hodges was leaving he decided it was best to give NRL experience to the player who would be remaining with us (tate)

Bennetts wasn't vindictive, dropping Hoffman would be.

Respect to Canberra for not releasing a kid that is homesick, has an ill father he wants to be with, and had a clause inserted in his contract for that very purpose (albeit the wording may not support him entirely)?
Respect for Canberra for sacking / releasing Carney, Dugan and Fergo once they started playing up, allowing them to move on to other clubs and bigger/better things?

I have no respect for Canberra at all.

They covered up most of the Carney & Dugan off field stuff & kept them until it all hit the fan.

They won't release a player who wants to leave on compassionate grounds, yet pursued a coach that was contracted to another club, who then quit that club on compassionate grounds.

Canberra have double standards.

In Chris Garry's 5 in the courier mail today he suggested that the Broncos should just suck it up and give Hoffman the fullback spot and convert Barba into a five-eighth. Thoughts?

Nope .... couldn't disagree more.

Hoffman will take too long to convert into a ballplaying 5/8.....and Barba is a supremely dangerous fullback.

Barba at fullback and Hoffman to wing (if he decides to stay) and a youngster at 5/8.

That is a stupid idea, this is the NRL, not some school team. We need our best players playing their best positions. I feel a bit sorry for Hoffman, but for the good of the team he needs to play HIS best position which is wing or centre.

3.JOSH Hoffman has every right to seek the best outcome for his family and rugby league career, regardless of his contract situation.
The Brisbane Broncos have every right to enforce his contract while at the same time courting under-contract stars in rival teams.
Clubs and players are all out for themselves.
Hypocrisy is rife.We all need to grow up and accept it.At age 25, Hoffman has around eight years left to create a financial legacy for his family and should not be derided for trying to provide for them via an upgrade with Canterbury.
The average career for an NRL player is three seasons. Family must come before club.Ask Peter Wallace and Parramatta Eels players whether loyalty pays.
That goes for Ricky Stuart as well. Of course he is upset Anthony Milford wants to leave Canberra to be with his family, even though it is the very reason he left the Eels.Stuart is seeking the best outcome for his team and his career and so he should.
4.THE Broncos will not let Hoffman join the Canterbury Bulldogs, however they should give in to his other request – playing fullback.
The absence of an established five-eighth to partner Ben Hunt could cruel the Broncos’ 2014 season.
There are talented rookie play-makers in the club’s ranks but Ben Barba grew up as a five-eighth and is the only realistic option for Brisbane.

No no no no no. Hoffman should not get fullback. The fact that he has whinged about it should lessen his chances.

not giving hoffman fullback is not about hoffman. its about barba. he was the best fullback in the comp in 2012 and i am confident he can return to those heights now his life is sorted.

it is simply, not about hoffman.

Why are you talking about Milford in this thread?. This thread is for discussing Hoffman not Milford.

Just moved those last few posts to the appropriate thread.

I have NO problem with Hoff leaving to make more money for his family - that is what you do at the end of your contract though

You cannot be released on the grounds you can make more elsewhere

Negotiate the best deal possible Hoff, at the end of your current contract

What's that saying, a picture paints 1000 words? Well he has already submitted 3000 words on the subject

technically other parties have done the talking, since it was posted on their instagram and not Hoffmans
