How many Broncos in the Anzac test teams?

Does Parker have any sort of incumbancy that Gillett doesn't? Parker and Gallen are very similar types of players, so I could easily see Gillett being picked over Parker for the different skill set he brings to the team.

Though frankly, I'm not really sure I'd pick Gallen at all. Parker is currently being a better version of him and he wasn't all that impressive upon his return. I'd like to see the prick have to prove his form first.

There will never be an Australian side without Gallen, even if he is in bad form. It's like NSW, they will never pick a side without him in it unless he is injured or suspended.

I think Parker does have the edge over Gillett. He is a WC winner and he is in reasonably good form. They tend to be loyal to players like Parker. I could be wrong, though.

If City/Country didn't exist, I'd consider this the most irrelevant fixture in the NRL season.

Test footy is important for the game's expansion, but a one off fixture like this does nobody any favours other than give the players an extra jersey to add to their collections.

I'd like to see the selectors adopt a long term approach to this match instead of just naming all the usual suspects. Would put a few guys on notice.

1. Greg Inglis
2. Brett Morris
3. Jarryd Hayne
4. Will Hopoate
5. Jorge Taufua
6. Jonathan Thurston
7. Daly Cherry-Evans
8. Mat Scott
9. Cameron Smith (c)
10. Aaron Woods
11. Chris McQueen*
12. Greg Bird
13. Paul Gallen

14. Anthony Milford
15. Andrew Fifita
16. Corey Parker
17. Boyd Cordner

18. Tariq Sims

* denotes, but seriously, Matt Gillett

I've gotten a little greedy, but I'd seriously have Inglis, DCE & Hayne over their counterparts. I don't see the point in running through the exact same combinations when the result means about as much as the points in 'Who's Line'.

Agree completely Pete, though perhaps not so much with the international footy aspect :)

Regardless of what approach you take though, I think Taufua should be there. For mine he's the best winger in the competition. A slight weakness under the high ball which he has improved on the past year and a bit but other than that he's been sublime.

Jorge Taufua makes way too many stupid errors.

I'd love to see:

1. Milford
2. Morris
3. Inglis
4. Hayne
5. Taufua
6. Thurston
7. DCE
8. Scott
9. Smith
10. Parker
11. Cordner
12. Fifita
13. Gallen

14. Gillett
15. B Lawrence
16. Myles
17. Taylor/McGuire

I can't see them changing the World Cup side really, maybe papalli doesn't get picked just coming back from injury and raiders been mediocre. Hodges needs a real good game to be considered and Gillett hopes he gets a spot on the bench but Parker fifita papalli and DCE is a good bench

hoffmans only chance is fullback with Kevin Locke out but still they got RTS. With foran and Luke out though they might go nuts on selections, yo is Kearney after all

I would prefer RTS over Hoffman for fullback, but with Foran out Hoffman could get his gig, in saying that Leilua has been solid for the Warriors at five-eight plus he has a combination with Johnson. Jason Taumalolo should definitely be picked, Manu Mau should be picked as well. Choosing the centres and wingers would be tricky: Beale, Hoffman, Nightingale, Simona, Whare, Perret, Vatuvai and Hurrel

For Australia, I don't think Slater has really done enough for selection so far nor has Hodges or Tamou. Put Evans into 7 and milford on the bench....Parker at 13 and Gillette and/or McGuire on the bench...

Although he does have a combination with Johnson he is also the only recognised hooker for New Zealand leaving 5/8th open. Don't know who else the kiwis have got no one comes to mind.

Also hurrell is not a kiwi he played for one of the island nations and can't even be picked in his club side

Slater is in unless injured he has the combinations plain and simple. Hodges I doubt and tamou purely because of his efforts in the World Cup. Milford won't play for Australia yet he isn't that good to walk into a champion side, everyone said the same thing about barba in 2012 DCE is on the bench and McGuire is not even close to playing for Australia

Locke played NSW Cup on the weekend. I don't think he did a lot though. I'd go with RTS at the back for sure.

I would have Hoffman on the wing every day of the week over Manu. I'd be running with....

1. RTS
2. Perret?
3. Whare/Beale
4. Matai
5. Hoffman

Or something like that. I'm not really up to date on Kiwi players unfortunately. Can see Hoffman getting the 1 though.

I'm pretty sure Hurrell can change his allegiance to NZ.

He qualified for NZ before he was picked for Tonga. He went with Tonga instead because I think NZ didn't want to use him. Now that the WC is over, he can change back to NZ

I don't think Papalii should be dropped, even if he's just recently coming back from injury. He's just too good already and will only keep getting better. Rate him higher than Cordner.

New Zealand team I would select:

1- RTS
2- Jason Nightingale
3- Josh Hoffman
4- Steve Matai
5- Manu Vatuvei
6- Kieran Foran
7- Shaun Johnson
8- JWH
9- Thomas Leuluai (have no clue who else they have for the position given Luke is injured)
10- Ben Matulino
11- SBW
12- Simon Mannering
13- Jeremy Smith (has the mongrel Elijah Taylor doesn't have)

14- Alex Glenn (by far the best utility value)
15- Manu Ma'u
16- Sam Moa
17- Jesse Bromwich

Drop Vatuvei who is just a liability, move Hoffman to the wing and bring in Whare, and I like it.

Though I think Matai might no be eligible anymore.

Aussie team I would select:

1- Billy Slater
2- Jarryd Hayne
3- Justin Hodges
4- Greg Inglis
5- Brett Morris
6- Jonathan Thurston
7- Cooper Cronk
8- Matt Scott
9- Cameron Smith
10- Andrew Fifita
11- Anthony Watamong
12- Sam Thaiday
13- Corey Parker (Paul Gallen is just returning from injury)

14- Matt Gillett (best utility value)
15- Josh Papalii (also just returned, but was only a few weeks away)
16- Nate Myles
17- James Tamou (more impact than Woods)

Why would Matai no longer be eligible?

Vatuvei would do for them what Vidot does for us, and although I agree he can be rocks, on song he can be diamonds.
