Hypothetical new coach in 2011?

It'll be an absolute disgrace if we have a new coach for 2011. It's obvious that a rookie coach has a bit to learn so he's not going to get everything right. Giving him 2 years on the job is not enough. I'm happy to give him until the end of next year. After 3 years we'll have a good idea on whether he's the man to take us long term.

But considering this is hypothetical - I'd LOVE to have Ricky Stuart. He'd straighten up our defence.

Ricky would help with our defence but I'd be concerend about what he would do to the club TBH. Very good coach though.[/quote:3lmt1wh1]

Why what would he do to the club?[/quote:3lmt1wh1]

Destroy it.[/quote:3lmt1wh1]

I don't see how. He's done a great job at every club he has coached.[/quote:3lmt1wh1]

[icon_ee That has to be bait

what people need to remember is that even the great Wayne Bennett missed the finals several times in his first 5 years as Broncos coach and he had a far superior team at his disposal. all rookie coaches take their time to become good NRL coaches and most don't win anything early on (unless they are handed a very strong team). look at Kevin Moore, he was rated the best rookie coach last year (even though the Bulldogs got eliminated the same weekend as the Broncos) and now he has missed the finals and in fact finished lower than the Broncos (he even had a very similar team to last year, unlike Henjak who lost some key players), so going by some peoples logic that means Moore must be sacked as well.

I want an outsider to get the role, I didn't like the idea of Bennetts lackey getting the job because its just more of the same without the motivational prowess of WB or his years of experience. A club as rich as ours and as good as ours should have got Bellamy who although was a former Wb protege was well removed and had developed a different style and one could argue a more effective one than Bennett in the modern game (we can thank Bruno Cullen for him not coming last year, probably the worst of many crap things Cullen did in the top job).

Ricky Stuart would be excellent because he would bring in new ideas and an outside approach to the game, the defense he helped create at the Roosters was revolutionary and even when in charge of an awful Sharks side they were rarely a side that got smashed they just couldn't win the tight low scoring games they regularly got themselves in to.

Bringing Stuart to the Broncos means we will be good for 1 year and crap for 5 years just look at every other team he has coached. good initially then they go to shit.

Stuart IS a very good coach.

This is hypothetical. We will have Henhouse.

That being said, the best coach we could possibly have is Big Mal.

Stuart lived off of Gould at the Roosters and proceeded to sink the Sharks. He signed on only once his contract had him being in charge of all recruitment and football department matters. That bloke has made some of the most astonishing playing roster decisions I have ever seen. Not to mention his negative style of play and he is an absolute halfback killer. He goes through more 7s than I've had hot dinners. Wallace and Hunt would both stagnate under his watch.

It would bring me to tears to see the Broncos playing the style of football he has demanded from the Sharks. The only time they have looked enterprising was earlier this year when Flanagan was given the reigns for a few weeks as an audition.

He is a myth.

Reading those articles about Henjak does not surprise me at all.
The selection policy displayed by Henjak and the lack of heart shown by the players on many occasions, especially without Lockyer, does indicate something is very wrong.
If Henjak is indeed snubbing his senior players, starting with their charismatic captain, putting his ego ahead of the team's interest and put up a barrier between himself and the players, then there is only one thing the board can do: Sack Henjak!

I'd be happy to see Stuart at the Broncos helm. With his defence coaching capabilities and the fact that he able to motivating players individually and as a group to really play for eachother, we would solve the 2 main problems we have at the moment. Add to that the natural talent, creativity and ability of our roster and I can't see that not being a winning formula!

Here is the scuttle, Stuart will be NSW coach next year, WB may, be back in 2012

Nathan Brown to have a year or maybe two as assistant to Bennett at the Dragons from 2011 then take over at the Broncos from 2012 or 2013.

In which case he can have a quiet word in GI's ear...

I'm pretty sure I'd lose all faith in Brisbane management if we signed Nathan Brown.

Guy couldn't get the best St George side in the past how many years to a final?

But very concerning about Henjak, Lockyer wouldn't of taken the field if he knew he couldn't do a job.

On the Roast they claimed that Henjack is gone and Stuart is in.

He was thrown into the Dragons job way to soon. It was an emotional response by the club to his career ending injury.

[Bennett was favourable in his comments regarding Brown, when he talked about what shape the club was in when he took over at the end of 2008.

''I think Nathan Brown did a great job here,'' Bennett said at the time. ''He got a lot of criticism, but I think he did a lot better job than people give him credit for.

''I walked into a club that wasn't a basket case, I can tell you, and that has helped enormously.'']***Bennett quoted from SMH article - http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-league/...ow-gasnier-back-to-dragons-20100512-uvgc.html

Brown has excelled during the past 2 seasons in the UK.

He lifted battlers Huddersfield to third in the premiership and took them to a Challenge Cup final against Warrington at Wembley.

Well on the Sunday Roast they are saying their mail is Henjak is gone & Stuart will be the coach next year.

MG also stated GI wanted to go to the Titans, but the money was better at the Broncos.

You have to wonder, why Steve Michaels was sh!t at the Broncos & it playing well at the Titans. (Could be the Henjak factor.)

its really not, coaching for 3 games a year is a little different to coaching for 24+ games a year, Mal is great for origin but he didn't have the best record coaching Canberra.

Sticky can coach but i would have concerns over his player recruitment if the Sharks are anything to go by.

Doubt it.

MG is a moron, GI said from day one he wanted to go to the Broncos and then again after he was signed said he only met with the GC out of courtesy.

Michaels lost all confidence at the Broncos, and its not like Ivan hooked him after a couple of games, he had plenty of opportunities, sometimes a change of scenery is the best cure.
