If Hunt Leaves...

Yow Yeh is a more than capable fullback, as is Hoffman. You could also throw Beale in there and he would do the job. Young-ens FTW!

I like Ari's idea about Campese they guy is the best 5/8th in the comp in terms of a purest look at the position (excluding Lockyer). If NSW don't start picking him they have rocks in their heads. I would like to see B.Hunt get plenty of time to prove himself before Lockyer leaves but if he doesn't look good enough Campese would be awesome.

Campese is a good player but I really really hope the Broncos can survive off mainly there own juniors. I know sometimes you have to sign players but I am hoping we don't turn into the roosters and sign everyone off contract every season.

I'd go Beale..

He is the modern fullback. Lightning quick and unlike Hodges and Hoffman has the ability to play like a genuine 5/8.

I agree with the consensus, give a junior a go. Haven't really seem either Beale and Hoffman play, so I can't really comment.

As for Campese? Pfft. A Peter Wallace and Ben Hunt combination is the way forward, with McCullough at hooker.

My first inclination is to play Hodges at fullback, but I haven't seen anything to suggest he or Folau are uncomfortable as both prefer the same position. Mind you, they have only played one game together. But even with Hodges out, Folau seems to be spending plenty of time on the wing, which is great.

I reckon I saw about 3 games in total of U20's last year. And the guys that are making the step up to NRL stood out like a beacon. All of them. WB was always too reluctant in my view to give the young blokes a go. Glad to see Henjak isn't scared to throw them in. Hoffman was one of those that stood out so perhaps he is the way to go. Haven't seen Beale at all, so can't comment on him.

Either way, I think I'd go shopping for a youngish 3/4 come fullback, that doesn't cost the earth, but has some potential. Maybe in the 100-130k range.

Hohaia has been playing great since late last year, but his best position in my view is bench utility impact player, and you can't carry him and a hooker. He is probly too old anyway.

Oink !

Why should we care about NSW losing 4 straight? [icon_razz1

The Broncos would be crazy to chase anyone. Considering the lack of talent in outside centre/Fullback that is available at the moment (2010) and considering the amount of potential young talent we have running around in Redcliffe, Wynnum, etc.

Add to that Hodges (who houldn't be discounted before used there, although weaking one position to strengthen another isn't the greatest option) and I firmly believe the Broncos will use the cash to sure up some off-contract and maybe chase a prop/heavy backrower.

The way he is playing im sure Hunt will feature in the Origin series so Beale and Hoffman will get their chance to show their stuff. Id prefer to promote one of those two and keep the extra money up top up those around the squad that are performing at the moment and keep the rest, if any, up our sleeve for the future.

Must sign Taylor. If we don't, i call for Cullens head.

The Rock said:
Hodges is out of the question, he's not getting any younger, and he's lost a bit of agility and pace since 2006.

One of the young kids for sure.

And he's fried his brains with booze and god knows what else.

Hoffman FTW.

we have beale and hoffman waiting for a shot. hunt is covered.

as for this talk ahead of locky. B.Hunt will do the job and become another bronco great. no need to sign from outside.

civo.. hate to say it really but unless its for next to nothing i would rather not see him back in brisbane, taylor needs a contract. and the rest of our fowards are doing great.

Youngsters to cover the spot, but in the form he is in at present we really need to keep K IMHO.

I note in the paper on the weekend Chris McKenna (now Wynnum backs coach) talking up Beale as a future star fullback of the NRL

Beale, Hoffman, Winterstein or Yow Yeh are all in the running IMO. Hodges, Michaels and Folau have got three of the 5 backline jerseys sewn up, and those four can fight it out for the other two IMO. All very talented players.

Meanwhile Tom Hewitt stands forlornly in the background singing "What about me".

Havn't read every post but just in case no one else has said it already I'll throw it out there for Locky to go back to fullback to save his body in defence and McColough or Ben Hunt to go to 5/8. No need to recruit new backs or halves. Money to go to the forwards please perhaps retention of a couple players like Dave Taylor that are emerging strongly.

Remember Locky can't go forever, he may be one bad injury away from retirement. and Personally I would hold fullback as the easiest position on his body I can think of, if he wants to he could even farm half of the run back collisions off to his wingers.
