I don't think you can really argue with Johns inclusion, how old were guys when sterlo retired? Can't of seem much of him and play and been old enough to really judge him. Johns was voted by a jury of his footballing peers, who would have get so see both of them in their prime. The judges clearly weren't biased players fresh in their mind either.

Well the only truly "fresh" players in the list were Langer, Webcke, Lockyer and Johns. All the other players had masses of hugely talented players in their positions.

Johns' reputation has blown so huge he was always going to win, even though in my opinion his actual deeds don't match the aura with which he's received.

Clearly, taking drugs makes you the best.

Yeah well, you could argue that the sympathy vote came in too. "Oh poor Joey, a tortured star".

If Johns was a QLDer we'd be wondering why Langer wasn't chosen instead.

If Johns was a QLD'er he would have played a lot less origin in the starting lineup than he did for NSW

Someones gotta say it, so it may as well be Frank.......

if Johns was a QLDer youd all be singing a different song.

Where's that wanking emoticon?

I've clearly stated that Sterling was ripped off. Sterling was a halfback who played with the Parramatta Eels, which is a team based in Sydney. Sterling also played for NSW.

Yep, it also makes you a legend. [icon_non

No wonder kids today are confused.

Johns was a brilliant player, there is no doubting that, but IMO he was overrated due to the sensationalism created around him by the NSW media.

I'm not denying he's good but I don't think he should've gotten in ahead of Langer, Stuart or Sterling.

Jeez, Joey couldn't even dislodge Kimmorley at halfback so why has he got ahead of Sterling?

WHo gives a stuff who was in the team of the century.. Half the QLD cup players would have destroyed the Majority of the Immortals. The team is more a popularity contest than a real guide to who is a better player. Johns was great player he dominated club matches dominated one or two Origin matches. IMO he is not a freckle on Alfies saggy Ar$e!!!

Completely disagree with this. He was first emerging when we were playing guys like Berrigan and Ikin in the QLD halves and he for some inexplicable reason was playing hooker or on the bench behind guys like Kimmorley. He would have walked in at the time and a player that good would not have let go of the jersey for many years.

Kimmorley was getting picked because Chris Andersen was the Australian coach and was picking him because he loves him and if you are the Australian 7 you will get picked for your state (un;ess your name is Cooper Cronk).

Good to hear that only the coach is the selector.

Was the same **** used by many in whinging about the selection of 8 Broncos in the Qld SOO team...

Until WB stepped down and nothing changed, of course.

It is a known fact that Chris Andersen has/had a love affair with Noddy and the reason he was getting picked for Australia was due to Andersen's influence at the selection table. I generally don't think coaches select the side they generally have a say and can put forward the type of style and type of players they want but never pick the team by themselves. But Noddy was an exception.

If they are dirty about Meninga being picked at centre because he's not an "immortal", all they have to do is make him an immortal. Meninga would make any team in any era.

Yeah Meninga will be an immortal soon enough, he is a certainty to go in in the next 5 years.
