Is Lachlan Maranta Really That Bad?

Whilst I know we are all entitled to our opinion, I just can't quite seem to reconcile that Fourex is a Maranta fan but a Wallace hater. Maranta is like the Peter Wallace of wingers!

No....you've misconstrued what I've been saying. I'm not a Maranta fan per se ......I certainly would like to see a better class of player take his spot. What I found ridiculous was your inability to give credit where credit is due and nit pick the positives that Maranta has been doing this year.

Even I gave credit to Peter Wallace

.....when it was due

.....which sadly, wasn't very often.

That is so very true.

With everyone seemingly realising they sub-consciously like Maranta and his work ethic and such, I agree and disagree.

Yeah everyone's said how he tries hard and such, which is great. As long as he remains depth. Honestly, as much as everyone seems to love the kid, if he signed on and actually became a permanent starting 17 player I think I would become mentally unstable.

Credit to the bloke for working his ass off, but unless he becomes twice the player he is now I really don't think he should be re-signed if it means losing blokes like Kahu etc. God help me if someone says "give him a chance".

I will now wait for someone to point out how he's in the top five try scorers this season so far and how that means he's improved tenfold.

You're wrong. He's in the top 5 try scorers this year. That's a direct correlation to his improvement, which is tenfold fyi.

I see. I should of used Twentieth-fold perhaps ? And if that's not a word, then well, I'll be temporarily out of words to vent my lack of joy towards Maranta.

Edit: After consulting with my secretary it appears your wrong. Whilst he may have 4 tries, on the official try scoring list he is actually seventh due to Alphabetical order, aka the literacy version of +/-

Boom

Don't say boom after you prove someone wrong. Some people on here don't like it.

ive always been a fan of Maranta but not a massive one. He's always had a good attitude and he's just one of those people you want to see succeed. Phil Gould said he would love him at the panthers and he could be in the QLD team in the next few years which made me laugh pretty hard but to be fair, we don't have many wingers and if he played for the Tigers, Sheens would have picked him for Australia already.

It was said in jest, champ. I just said exactly what you said you were waiting for in the previous post. I care not for your Boom.

Hey Ari !!!!

was Maranta's superman leap into the air to knock down Maloney's dropkick exciting enough for ya ???

Did he really knock it down though? It was a brilliant leap, but I don't think the footage is conclusive.

I think it was always hitting the crossbar and he might have got the tips of his fingers on it. He certainly didn't knock it down, and if anything, was risking knocking it over the bar by going for it - now that would've been the ultimate Maranta moment!

Impressed with how much hang time he got though, I think we should start calling him Space Jam or something.

It was fun to watch, but also very stupid. He was never higher than the crossbar, so really he was just at risk of tipping it over.

But if we could get him to put those leaps in to score tries I'll get on board!

I'll give him the tackle on Moa? (with Oates coming in to ensure the tackle was made) but his little dance ,wait and pass right on 80min was incredibly stupid. I thought that was the game right there.
He's lucky the other Roosters player wasnt expecting it and Vidot or whoever cleaned it up.

That pass was so strange. The guy who always cuts infield throws a pass on his own 10m line at 80mins!

Maybe he's just growing in confidence! His kick defence was strong tonight though. Beating Jennings to the Maloney kick was key. It works so often so he did very well to be there.

I don't think he knew what to do. He heard the whistle blow and thought for a moment the game was over instantly. He forgot the ball was still in play. The pass was a just casual throw away to a team mate ......

I think that was Kane Evans barrelling down on him. Great tackle.

Could have strangled him tonight. He had it on the 4th and just stopped because we were in front......albeit 48m out. The dense **** could have tried to make some ground and get us closer.

It's worth mentioning fullback is one of the toughest positions to play fitness wise, they have to cover the most metres, so if he was stuffed at the end of the game, that's totally excusable when he's only had 2 games there now. His match fitness will improve, but hopefully we don't have to see him there again this season and Kahu/Boyd are both back and healthy soon.

I like Maranta, I honestly do. Every group of friends has a retard that everyone piles shit on but if someone outside of the group does it you say "watch your mouth, he's OUR retard".

On the wing his impression of Lano from Lano and Woodley is cute but at fullback its nerve racking. He made some decisions that I can't imagine any player making. Out of no where our meek little friend decides he's lebron James and risked tapping a field goal that was hitting the cross bar over it.

He looked like Mr Bean went to a Broncos game in a jersey, lost his teddy on his way to his seat and after a convoluted series of events he noticed ted was attached to the game ball causing him to try to retrieve it while inadvertently winning a cliche tight sporting match.

The kids an absolute potatoe. Great television though.
